One son, the studious J, accepts the conditions, lands an Ivy League education, and a 6-figure job offer from Apple. The other son, the party-loving E, rejects the conditions, ends up with a mountain of debt, and a temp agency job offer. The situation reaches a boiling point over a family dinner, with E expressing his resentment and the father standing his ground. Let’s see what people have to say about this intriguing family saga…
Restrictive college funding: NTA, but harsh. Opportunity for growth and trust.

“YTA. Trying to prevent people from making the same mistakes as you can backfire, sometimes they need the lessons that come with the mistakes. What are you expecting him to do, go back in time and change his mind? ♀️”

NTA. Don’t let others shame you for setting boundaries.

“YTA for imposing unfair rules you knew one son wouldn’t agree to. I also think it’s bullshit that he’s starting his life so far in debt, when you COULD have paid for him go to college, but you decided instead to be a hypocrite & impose rules you obviously didn’t adhere to in college.” – NTA: Dad changed his beliefs and wanted better for his kids.

Restrictive rules hinder college experience. Balance is key for success.

NTA for offering college funding with reasonable conditions

NTA. Fraternity life is shit . Protection for your kids . No drugs also good stay focused on studies. Maintains high gpa . I kind of agree with this? A little lax might be needed if they are having a hard time but I agree otherwise. Party once a month . I mean kids will be kids . Nice to have a little fun . Your children sound like they mean well . But the one who didn’t go needs to wake up . The point of college is to further an education . The experience is overrated and stupid IMO . If you’re paying 50k for school , you have a say in what happens and to not waste money . For sure NTA

“YTA. You imposed a $50k consequence on your kid before he did anything wrong “
