I will do anything to make painting walls an easier task.
As simple a job as it is, wall painting can be exhausting — and painful, especially if you’re short! Luckily, TikTok user @sharnenejewell has some helpful painting tips that will totally change the way you paint your next wall.
Grab your rollers and let’s check it out!
Do your walls look like this?

That’s years of paint roller buildup right there. I lovingly think of it as “cottage cheese” texture, but I recognize the grossness of that.
ANYWAY, if your walls look like that, listen up.
Buy a squeegee.

For this hack, you’re going to need a long, flat squeegee. Get one with a handle so that you don’t absolutely torch your wrists trying this one out.
Step 1: Apply paint.

Ah, look at that roller texture. Disgraceful.
For this hack, @sharnenejewell used a matte emulsion paint. It uses water to lay a film on the wall that dries matte.
Step 2: Squeegee that ish.

Press firmly and drag the squeegee down the wall. It’ll pull away the excess paint, leaving the rest to fill in those horrible little wall dimples.
Step 3: Admire your handiwork.

Boom, smooth wall. Can you believe how easy that was? If you live in an old house, this hack will save you hours of sanding and priming!
It’s contractor approved!

The comments were full of professionals who approved heartily of this method! I would totally be tempted to try it, it seems less messy than sanding.
The key is to make sure the squeegee stays clean.

If you find the edges of the squeegee are creating lines on the wall, stop and wipe the squeegee off. You shouldn’t have any build-up to make this work!
The hack won’t work on purposefully textured walls, though.

If you’re thinking of trying this on popcorn ceilings or purposefully textured walls, think again — those textures are a little too intense to be filled in with emulsion paint.
