They say that blood is thicker than water.
Someone should probably tell that to this aunt who had the gull to lock her niece out of the bathroom for leaving used pads in the trash. WTF?!
The only sensible response would be taking the trash out AKA kicking the aunt out.
But did this dad do that? Keep reading to find out.
This dad took his dilemma to the “Am I The Asshole” community on Reddit.

He began by explaining that he’s the father of a sixteen-year-old daughter. Since she has problems with her mother, she came to live with him permanently a month ago.
He also lives with his wife and her widow sister who has two kids, 13 and 16.
So far, everything was going well.

That was until the Redditor’s daughter got her period. “My SIL came to me complaining about my daughter leaving used pads in the bathroom causing her sons to see them.”
While you’d think she left them on the counter or something by the aunt’s reaction, she said she left them in the garbage.
“I laughed in her face asking if she thought this was abnormal or strange,” he wrote.
“She got upset that I didn’t understand her point and wanted me to listen carefully as she explained that her boys are pretty young and shouldn’t be subjected to witness stuff like that.”
When he talked to his daughter about it, he assured him that she wraps them in toilet paper and throws them into the trash.

He then told his SIL that she should quit being too sensitive over her boys. She countered, saying that one of her sons has a blood phobia.
When he welcomed ideas to fix the situation, she suggested his daughter start throwing her used pads outside the house…

“I stopped arguing at the point because of how ridiculous she was being,” he shared. “She threatened to change the bathroom door lock if I don’t do something but I laughed her off.”
Unfortunately, this was no laughing matter to the aunt. She was serious in her threats.
The next day, the daughter called her dad to let him know that her step-aunt refused to let her use the bathroom and was keeping it locked. She was forced to use the neighbor’s bathroom instead.
Suffice to say, the dad was livid and blew up on his SIL.

She said the lock was only for when his daughter tries to leave her pads inside. She said that “she would’ve allowed her if she agreed to put her used pads elsewhere but my daughter was stubborn.”
He then removed the lock and told the aunt that she has six days to move out.

His wife intervened, saying that her sister was a widow and that she and her kids would be homeless.
Too little too late. “I said I stopped giving a [expletive] the minute she tried to keep my daughter out the bathroom,” he wrote.
Since his wife said he was being unfair to those kids, he took to the Reddit community to get an outside opinion.
Reddit quickly let him know that he’s fully justified in his decision.
“NTA. ‘boys are pretty young’ teach them that women have periods then, Christ. Your daughter has a great father! Tell SIL if she doesn’t like it she can get out :),” this Redditor wrote .
This next Redditor said that her boys are old enough to know about menstruation.

“NTA, sounds like SIL is the one who needs to grow up,” they shared .
A third Redditor stated that the widow can afford to work a full-time job since her kids are in school most of the day.
The original poster shared that his SIL star receiving benefits after her husband passed away, but she complains its not enough to provide for her two kids.
“The rest of my in-laws are negative and won’t help.”
Well, after what she did and Reddit’s response, it looks like this is someone else’s problem.
