It’s due time that popular fashion houses start shaping their brands to fit the current climate. Yes, each decade seems to have its own standard of beauty, but we’ve finally gotten to a place where the general population is sick and tired of seeing the same people and type of bodies strewn about advertising campaigns — we’re needing a real dose of reality.
Lingerie powerhouse Victoria’s Secret is allegedly canceling their famous fashion show this year to focus on re-branding, and people are ready.
Body positivity, inclusion, and diversity have become important ubiquitous concepts in 2019, and many brands are getting on board in changing with the times.
No longer are white, cis, straight, and slender women the norm for ad campaigns
That’s why brands like Victoria’s Secret have become more like outsiders in the world of beauty standards.

There have always been women who criticized the brand for the sexual objectification of its models, not to mention their promotion of unrealistic body standards — they always sold for one type of woman.
In the fall of last year, Victoria’s Secret’s chief marketing officer Ed Razek got in trouble for comments he made about diversity.

In an interview with Vogue , Razek said that the brand doesn’t feel the need to feature transgender models in the fashion show “because the show is a fantasy.”
Pardon moi ?
The show is sure living in its own fantasy world, alright, because one of its models just eluded to the fact that it might be done for good this year.

Australian model Shanina Shaik straight up told The Daily Telegraph that the “show won’t be happening this year.”
The show already wasn’t going to be televised for public viewing.

Viewership of the event has simply been declining over the years.
She went on, “I’m sure they’re trying to work on branding and new ways to do the show because it’s the best show in the world.'”

It appears that the lingerie company is crumbling to the harsh reality that their branding strategy and overall image is extremely outdated.
While Victoria’s Secret has yet to comment on Shaik’s comments, people are very much ready for the famous show to be done and over with.
This Twitter user wants the chief marketing officer gone.
It’s finally time for Victoria’s Secret to undergo a little branding face lift.
