ESH. Time and place. Read the room. Like, your friend obviously made some very poor decisions but don’t think it was the time to have that conversation with her. Sure, having unprotected sex with an engaged man 10 years older than her involves a lot of bad decisions, but since when were 18 y/o generally known for making consistently good decisions? Maybe she was naive enough to believe it wouldn’t happen (it’s basic biology but I know a few of these people myself), and believe he would leave his partner. This should be a pretty big lesson for her for the future, but sounds like what she needed was some support, and give her the harder truth later when she isn’t in such a fragile position. You don’t have to agree with her choices but she’s still a human being, and deserves some empathy and support. She shagged someone in a committed relationship, she didn’t commit f**king murder. In sum; your friend is TA for her naive and hurtful decisions, and not taking contraception seriously, and you’re TA for your poor timing. Also, this guy is a massive a**hole for pursuing an 18 y/o with a fiancée at home. Some redemption by offering her somewhere to crash, but I feel like some damage is already done.
