Kody Brown of the American reality TV show Sister Wives broke down in tears in a recent episode. He was grieving his marriage to Meri Brown, confessing that she is his “favorite ex-wife.”
The show revolves around Kody, his four wives, and eighteen children. He divorced three of his wives, Meri Brown, Christine Brown, and Janelle Brown, and is now only married to Robyn Brown.

Kody broke down in front of Meri
In the episode on Sunday, November 24th, Kody broke down in front of his ex-wife, Meri Brown, during her move from Arizona into her house in Utah.
“Meri, it’s the end of an era. It was a great run, but I’m not gonna let it get me down,” he told his ex.
The former wife was confused by the sentiment
The sobbing shocked Meri as she responded, “It always blows me away that you get emotional like this. I don’t understand.”
The two had gotten married in 1990 and, to Kody’s dismay, were now going their separate ways.
This comes with Kody’s divorce from two other wives
Meri wasn’t the only wife to leave Kody; Christine and Janelle Brown also divorced him, leaving the man only married to Robyn Brown.
Kody expressed that he was no longer angry about the divorces and was now only grieving his relationships.
It was a painful situation for Kody
“It’s just heartbreaking in a way. And I love the life I have, but it’s very different from the life I had three years ago. It seemed like everybody else went, ‘This isn’t important,’” Kody said of the recent changes in his life.
The man was already missing his marriage
Kody said that he was “mourning a loss” about his concluded marriage with Meri Brown, saying that her moving to Utah is “the final nail in the coffin of our dream.”
Despite this, Meri did not feel the same way.
Meri was instead frustrated at his tears
The ex-wife expressed her anger at Kody’s breakdown, saying that it didn’t really make sense since she had been estranged from him throughout their marriage and could not fix things.
She said, “He’s sobbing. He’s saying, ‘It’s the end of an era,’ and I’m thinking, ‘It didn’t have to be this way.’”
Kody also apologized to Meri
In the episode, Kody also apologized for the prolonged estrangement during their marriage, telling Meri, “I’m sorry about the seven years, but I’m glad we did it. Because now I can mourn a loss instead of being angry.”
Meri was still confused by this apology as he hadn’t expressed such remorse before.
The ex-wife confessed she didn’t understand him
“I do not understand. I don’t get it. I don’t know where this is coming from. I do not understand it. I don’t understand it. He has made it clear that he did not want me in his life, so why this emotion?” Meri shared.
She seems to remain confused on next week’s episode
In the preview for the episode airing next week, the ex-wife is shown wondering, “Maybe I’ve done the wrong thing.” So perhaps things might yet change or evolve between the two.
While confused and angry, Meri still had a good time moving with Kody.
They were happily packing together
Before Kody’s breakdown, the two were packing Meri’s stuff together, saying, “She’s the favorite divorced wife,” before adding, “You’re the favorite ex-wife, Meri. That’s as easy as can be.”
Meri also had a good day despite the tears, saying, “Today has been good. It’s like we’re seeing parts of ourselves that we loved back in the day. I also don’t feel any regret about where we are now.”
