There’s something really nice about reading about the interesting backstories that go along with some pictures. It’s like seeing a snapshot into someone’s life.
The pictures in this list are really nice. Whether they warm your heart or break it, you might not be able to look away from these fascinating photos. At least, not for a little while.
“Lost my mom in April, got a tattoo of one of her drawings and her handwritten note she wrote me.”

This is such a nice way to honor a parent who’s passed, especially when they were artists in life. It’s a small but good way to carry on that legacy.
“Had to run out to the truck last night and this was standing at my front door. So I have a cat now.”

Sometimes you go out and end up finding something super unexpected. Sure, it may not always be a kitten, but I like to think this’ll happen to most of us at least once.
“We met here on Reddit (r4r) and he flew from the UK to celebrate my birthday (I’m from Turkey).”

When people say the relationships you make online aren’t real, they’ve clearly never seen anything like this. It just goes to show you that love really doesn’t have any borders.
“My library (in Canada) provides light therapy lamps for people to use while reading, working, and studying in the dark Winter months.”

Small things like this can really make a difference. Winter is a time of darkness and (for many) d********n, so it’s important to grab those moments in the sun as often as possible. Even if that sun is artificial.
“2500 mile flight, 2 hour drive, 6 hour hike, and my wife is at rest.”

It would be pretty hard to look at this picture and caption and not get emotional. But when you truly love someone, you’ll travel thousands of miles to lay them to rest, no matter how painful the journey is.
“This person sold their VHS player on eBay and got a surprise letter in the mailbox.”

It’s amazing how one action that someone wouldn’t really think much of could truly impact the life of someone else. If I ever got a letter like this, I’d probably cry on the spot.
“My Grandfather and I in Tokyo, 73 years apart.”

What I think is the most amazing part of these photos is the fact that they were taken in the exact same spot. It just goes to show you how decades of development can totally transform a city.
“My dog is 16, so I figured it’s time for some driving lessons.”

Sixteen in human years is a pretty huge milestone. But I think 16 in dog years is an even bigger milestone. I’m not really sure this old boy can drive, but at least this made for one wholesome pic.
“Found an old letter sent to my Mother who was struggling to make payments on my trumpet.”

This is a great reminder to just be kind. When you’re kind to others, they’ll be kind in return, oftentimes in the most unexpected ways. Don’t forget to pay it forward!
“She took me in 15 years ago and no one makes me as happy. We had the best Xmas. I love my Granma so much.”

“I grew up in a kids home (orphanage) after losing my parents. She was my key worker there as well as my carer. When I was too old to live there and had to move out.”
The family you choose is just as important as the family you’re born into.
“I’m a rescuer for a raptor rehab, and I got the call for this guy in the middle of me dying my hair.”

Sure, she may not look all that impressed, but that kind of dedication is what keeps so many wild animals from going extinct. I’m sure this raptor is super appreciative.
“After 30 years of mortgage payments. I paid it off today. It’s all ours.”

This is one thing most of us see as some faraway dream. I can only imagine the feeling you get when you finally own your home outright. Relief, excitement, like all your hard work was worth it. The list goes on.
“That is a wonderful accomplishment and much harder to achieve staying at the same company.”

I wonder what it’s like to watch someone work their way up the corporate ladder. Or, what it’s like to do so yourself. Talk about being dedicated to a single company for your whole career.
“Our mailman’s farewell card, he’s a great guy.”

You can tell that, while this guy is going to enjoy a well-earned retirement, he probably loved his job. You don’t send out farewell cards like this if you won’t miss your work.
“The Amazon driver who delivered my package at 6pm on Christmas Eve.”

Now this is a delivery person who goes above and beyond to spread a little cheer. I hope he was able to get all his deliveries done so he could get home to his family.
“10 years ago today I completed my goal of driving the entire Pan-American Highway. Dream Achieved!”

If there’s something you’ve always wanted to do, even if it seems time-consuming, difficult, or even impossible, just do it. Or at least try. Worst case scenario, you’ll have a great story to tell.
“Trying to get her to pose under the tree… this one broke our hearts.”

It’s almost like this dog knew how to pose for the perfect photo. I wouldn’t be surprised if they don’t put this on a Christmas card and hand it out for the next several years.
“The moment my daughter saw the ocean for the first time.”

We can’t see her face, but you just know she probably has a look of amazement right about now. Hopefully she’ll get to see the ocean many more times in her life.
“Just saw a dad teaching his son how to change a tire. All I could hear is, ‘Great job buddy,’ etc., both wearing smiles. Looked like a man raising a man to me.”

Sure, this kid may be too young to change a tire on his own, but the lessons he learns now will be useful for the rest of his life. Really warms your heart, doesn’t it.
“As a kid I dreamed of working on film sets. I just wrapped my first real movie as a department head.”

Some dreams truly seem impossible. But if you work hard, there’s so much you can do. Watching other people achieve their dreams is probably the most inspirational thing ever.
