People build these libraries and place them in their yards, inviting others to take a book or leave a book.
Free Blockbuster, an organization dedicated to reviving the movie rental experience, decided to take the concept of those little free libraries but use DVDs instead of books.
The idea lead to people making their own free Blockbusters.
Some built the boxes themselves from scratch, and others upcycle abandoned newspaper boxes. Once the box is made, all that’s left to do is add movies and wait for people to borrow them.

After one Twitter user tweeted a photo of a free Blockbuster in Minneapolis, people online couldn’t resist praising this idea. It certainly brought back a lot of memories of roaming a Blockbuster and remembering to rewind the tape before returning it to the drop box.
People are hoping to see more of these free Blockbusters pop up.
Currently, there are dozens of these free Blockbusters located throughout the United States, and Free Blockbuster is hoping others will be inspired to build their own. That way, more people can have access to some classic entertainment while reliving the thrill of going to an old-school video rental store.
