Kit Harington is best-known for playing Jon Snow on Game of Thrones , and this iconic role has gained him many fans.
While Game of Thrones might be over, Harington’s career is really just getting started, but he doesn’t plan to just keep playing characters like Jon Snow.
He wants to show a broader, more inclusive view of masculinity in future roles he takes on.
Kit Harington is an attractive, talented young actor who might be seen as a more stereotypically masculine leading man.

With his tall, dark, and handsome appeal, it’s not that surprising that he’s been cast in roles on Game of Thrones and other action films such as Pompeii in 2014.
He’s also set to star in the upcoming Marvel movie *The Eternals* which comes out in 2021.

While Harington is already a really well-known star, being cast as a Black Knight will definitely make him an even more popular and mainstream actor.
We can’t wait to see him in this role!
Despite being known for his stoic roles and playing brooding manly heroes like Jon Snow, Harington doesn’t want to be typecast.
In an interview with The Telegraph , Harington said he’s going to avoid playing men like Jon Snow in the future.
He has found that he doesn’t want to keep portraying a one-sided view of masculinity.
This is a rather progressive and amazing stance for him to take, as it would be easy for him to take these kinds of action roles over and over.

Given that toxic masculinity is so destructive, Harington’s commitment is admirable.
He told The Telegraph , “I feel that emotionally men have a problem, a blockage.”
“Having portrayed a man who was silent, who was heroic, I feel going forward that is a role I don’t want to play anymore.”

Harington clearly has a refreshingly equal view on men and women.
But the reason why he wants men to have more positive role models in film might surprise you.
He was raised in a household that didn’t stick to strict gender roles and norms, and this is all because of his mother Deborah Jane Catesby.

Gender fluid households that allow children to express themselves regardless of gender might be more common these days.
It sounds like Harington’s mom was ahead of her time in an awesome way!
In fact, Harington’s mother provided him with a wide range of toys, and this is something he learned to embrace.

He explained to The Telegraph :
“I asked for an Action Man and I got a doll — it was very gender fluid from the word go. And I went with it.”
Harington’s own upbringing will likely impact the way he parents when his child with wife Rose Leslie is born.
The couple, who have been married since 2018, are expecting their first child together.
The pregnancy was recently announced via photoshoot with Make Magazine.
While the gender of their baby isn’t known yet, the *Game of Thrones* co-stars will likely take Harington’s own views on masculinity into account.

Fans will definitely be excited to learn more about these two as parents and how they go about the process of parenting.
It’s an exciting time for the couple, and we can’t wait to see them take on these new roles as mother and father.
Despite not wanting to play more roles like Jon Snow, he doesn’t regret his experience.

He especially enjoyed filming the early seasons when everything was starting to gain momentum.
“The first season was wonderful, the freedom of it, everyone just had a great old time.”
His upbringing definitely seems to have influenced his overall views of gender and masculinity. We truly love to see it.
