As coronavirus continues to change the way we’re all living — forcing everyone to stay home as much as possible and take extra safety precautions when going out in public, it’s safe to say that this is a very strange time to be alive!
Since for the last while, all barbershops and hair salons have been closed, Kelly Ripa decided to give her son a haircut during quarantine and things did not go to plan.
Another day, another quarantine haircut gone wrong.
In these trying times, it’s hard to resist giving yourself or a loved one a haircut. It’s beyond tempting.
I won’t lie, I gave myself bangs because of this pandemic.
But I think it’s safe to say that 9 times out of 10, it better to leave haircuts to the professionals!
Unfortunately, Kelly Ripa ‘s son, Joaquin Consuelos, had to find that out the hard way to never let his mom cut his hair for him.
In case you missed it, Kelly Ripa, her husband Mark Consuelos, and their children, have been quarantining in the Caribbean.
Many fans were upset to find out that Kelly and her family had been hiding out on a tropical island , while giving everybody the impression that they were at their home in New York City.
She and her family reportedly received orders from ABC to shelter-in-place while they were vacationing in the Caribbean, and therefore, decided to stay put.
“We had planned a trip for our family, and it was supposed to be our entire family of course,” a source revealed Kelly said .
“And we arrive and three days later, the entire world changed, really. I mean, everything shut down,” she went on.
“The government shut down; our country shut down. I hate to use the word stuck, but we were,” she added .
“We decided to stay where we were.”
And so, ever since, Kelly, Mark and their two adult children have been quarantining there, steering clear of coronavirus, and living in the lap of luxury!
I am definitely jealous.
Anyways, after already giving herself a few trims and cutting 22-year-old son, Michael Consuelos’ hair on *Live with Kelly and Ryan*, Kelly decided it was time to do the same for her other son, Joaquin.
Unfortunately, the third time was not the charm!
In a recent episode of *Live with Kelly and Ryan*, Kelly said that she has “cut every member of our family’s hair now during quarantine.”
So, when it was time to cut Joaquin’s hair, she decided to film the experience, and even though things went awry, thank goodness she did!
“Joaquin has my hair. Everybody else in the family has [my husband] Mark [Consuelos’] hair,” Kelly says in the video.
“It is bone straight. It is shiny. It is easy to cut. It just sort of lays the right way,” she said .
“Joaquin and I have the same head of hair which is to say it is wiry, it’s thick, it’s dense, it’s got lots of layers.”
“So it’s not the easiest hair to cut,” she added .
And seemingly, everything was going absolutely perfect.
“I think I have a future in $500 haircuts. You know how haircuts are so expensive for men now, that they’re all $500? I’m like, ‘I’m going to give you a $500 haircut”.
In the time-lapsed video, Kelly appeared to be very focused on giving her son a great haircut.
Too focused.
She was so zoned in on giving her son a great trim, that she didn’t realize she had cut her own hand with the scissors.
She revealed that she had cut her “hand in three places” and was “bleeding all over the place.”
“Look at how fast I work!,” she added .
“You actually look like you are holding the follicles, going in for the layering and the texturing,” Ryan said, impressed by Kelly’s skills.
“In that high speed video you look like you know what you are doing.”
Looks can be deceiving, apparently.
“If I see something, I think I can do it, I’m one of those, I’m not malignantly narcissistic, but I have enough narcissism to believe that if I see something on TV I naturally have mastered it,” Kelly responded.
Joaquin even chimed in, saying how happy he is with his new do.
“She did a really good job. I’m really happy. I feel much more aerodynamic now. The only thing is, I turn on my phone and I have a Face ID, and it doesn’t recognize me because I used to look like Judge Judy,” Joaquin said . “It doesn’t know who I am.”
“We might not actually have to go to the barbershop ever again.” He added, “This is a game changer.”
