The Battle of Chores: Is Our Supermom Asking for Too Much?
Our supermom’s plea for help seems to fall on deaf ears as her husband, the perpetual student, continues his leisurely lifestyle. Despite her juggling the kids, work, and housework, he accuses her of ‘riding him’ when she asks for more help. His contributions? Mowing the lawn, feeding the animals, and an occasional load of laundry. But is that enough? Or is our supermom justified in wanting more support? Let’s dive into the internet’s take on this domestic drama.
NTA. You’re the breadwinner, caregiver, cook, and cleaner. What about him?

“NTA at all. This shit is not uncommon. Write down his everyday chores if he ‘doesn’t see’ what needs to be done, and let’s see if you can ‘save the money'”

NTA: Wife’s frustration with husband’s lack of help is relatable

“NTA. Make it clear to him that it’s the constant micromanaging and thinking about everyone’s needs being met and then doing it that is exhausting. If he is on vacation from studying (what does that even mean? Has he been working on one degree since High School? Is he getting degree after degree? Is he a scholar, teaching and researching to write for essays or books/magazines?) he should absolutely do at least 50%. I had that talk with my bf too. Whenever I asked him to do something he’d dutifully do it, but that’s not what I wanted. I want him to see for himself that housework needs to be done and for him to just do it without any comment from me. I’m not his mom, I don’t assign chores. We are partners and we have a household together. Doing equal work doesn’t mean waiting for a list of chores to do, it’s having an eye for what needs to be done and doing it independently. I also told him flat out that after I’m done with my degree in a year I will make more money than he ever will, that I will never be a housewife and having children ment that he would work part time, not me. He understands, agreed and even likes it that way since he isn’t very passionate about his profession anyways. Since you are in similar positions just like…probably 15 years older, your husband should be mature enough to understand and change his ways. Your life sounds exhausting and I wish you all the best.”
