Sending your kids off to college is an immensely bittersweet moment that many parents face. Your child is officially grown up and ready to take the world on by themselves, but you’ll also miss them dearly.
The distance can be tough, which is a sentiment one celebrity mom shared now that her own daughter has started college, not to mention the anxieties that come with it.
A sweet story showed how some motherhood experiences transcend fame.
On Monday’s episode of The Late Late Show with James Corden , guest Heidi Klum talked about how it’s been now that her daughter, Leni, moved to New York City to start college.
She said the distance definitely made her worry.
Especially since Leni doesn’t always pick up the phone.
“This weekend she just moved in and I called, and normally she picks up, and then three, four hours I don’t hear anything. And I’m already like, my head is going, ‘Where is she, what is she doing, why is she not answering.’ Already the worrying is starting.” Klum explained.
She’s already forming other plans just in case.
“I had called this weekend like, every two hours I called again, and I’m like, ‘Why don’t you just call me back?'”
“Now I want the number of the roommate so that I can bug the roommate if she doesn’t pick up.”
However, despite the anxiety, Klum is still very proud of her daughter.
She told Entertainment Tonight that Leni “has her head screwed on right.” Leni does do some modeling work, but Klum says she’ll be prioritizing school above all else.
“I think she’s going to have a good time, but my heart will be sad,” she said, echoing the sentiments of mothers everywhere when their babies move away.
