When you gotta go, you gotta go… fast .
I don’t know about you, but my bathroom time is pretty sacred, and I don’t really want anyone giving me their unsolicited opinion on how long I’m in there for and for what reason — unless it turns out that it’s actually kind of a health risk , which is what experts are warning about for those extra long visits to the loo.
According to a recent study, the average length of time to be on the toilet is five minutes.
According to research done in the UK by Topps Tiles , the average person spends “three and a half hours on the toilet each week, split up into stints of about five minutes on average and between four and seven trips a day.”
It might sound like a long time, but remember, for some people, that’s pretty much their only real break from work. Boss makes a dollar…
Unfortunately, if you’re in there for any longer, experts are warning you are putting your health at risk.
According to The Mayo Clinic , “sitting for a long time on the toilet or really having to strain yourself to force something out can cause hemorrhoid’s,” and the risk gets worse the older you get or the less healthy your lifestyle is.
So you should probably wrap it up.
Maybe don’t bring your phone in with you and get stuck scrolling on TikTok or trying to beat the next level in Candy Crush the next time you have to answer nature’s call — trust the experts and save yourself some unfortunate and embarrassing pain in the long run.
