One of the things women look forward to most about motherhood is the first time their child says the word,”Mom.”
Well, everyone except singer Grimes . The 33-year-old recently revealed in an interview with Vogue that she’s on a first-name basis with her son, X Æ A-XII .
We wonder what Grime’s boyfriend and baby daddy, Elon Musk, thinks about this…
Elon Musk and Grimes have been unorthodox parents from the start.
I mean, they called their son, X Æ A-XII, for crying out loud!
At first, people thought that the SpaceX founder and CEO and the pop singer were joking.
But they very much weren’t joking, and fans took a second to realize that.
Grimes tweeted a full breakdown of the meaning behind their baby’s unusual name which really drove home the fact that this was the real name.
“X, the unknown variable.” she began.
“Æ, my elven spelling of Ai (love &/or Artificial intelligence); A-12 = precursor to SR-17 (our favorite aircraft).”
“No weapons, no defenses, just speed. Great in battle, but non-violent; + (A=Archangel, my favorite song) (metal rat),” she wrote . Ah , that explains it.
Their son’s name was originally A-12, but they changed it to A-Xii due to California law prohibiting the use of numbers on birth certificates.
While on Joe Rogan’s podcast, Musk explained that the pronunciation of their son’s name is X Ash A Twelve.”
On the night of the baby’s birth, Elon shared this odd picture of ~~Baby Malone~~ the baby with fake tats.
Another time Grimes tweeted that, “Having a baby is like the dark souls of tamagotchi.”
Given this strange behavior from both of them, it’s clear to see why they’re perfect for each other!
But that’s not to say they agree on everything.
Back in 2020, the Tesla CEO stirred up controversy on Twitter for writing, “pronouns s**k.”
This refers to people who use them to describe themselves in their online bios on social media. You’ll often see “she/he” or “them/they.”
Elon’s tweet upset those in the LGBTQ community since Tesla had previously topped the list for best places to work if you identify as LGBTQ.
It also upset Grimes who called him out in a series of now-deleted tweets.
“I love you but please turn off ur phone or give me a dall [sic.]” she wrote.
“I cannot support hate. Please stop this. I know this isn’t your heart.”
While people tore Elon apart, many rallied behind Grimes and were grateful to them.
Many Twitter users agreed with the 33-year-old Canadian singer.
“Pretty disgusting to see from you. What’s so hard about calling someone a pronoun?” a user wrote .
Needless to say, in this case, they had made headlines for all the wrong reasons.
“Elon, so you are not a man, your mother isn’t a woman, your father isn’t a man, your wife isn’t a woman, right? Or maybe you say such absurd things to disdain women?” another tweeted.
“you are literally the last person who can reasonably complain about this after naming your kid xanax 12,” a third added .
Most recently, Grimes spoke out again about titles.
Grimes, whose real name is Claire Bouche, said that she and Elon’s son refers to her by her first name only.
“Being a mother feels weird to say,” she said.
This was all in a Vogue video documenting her getting ready for Monday’s Met Gala she discussed everything motherhood meant to her personally and artistically.
“For some reason, I don’t identify with that word.”
“He says Claire, but he doesn’t say Mama,” Boucher continued, referring to her son.
“Maybe he like, can sense my distaste for the word ‘mother.’ Which, I don’t even know why I have a distaste for it, because I respect…”
“I just can’t identify with it, weirdly,” she concluded.
And what do I say to that? I say to each their own.
In the same video, Grimes discussed motherhood and how it helped her artistically.
“I think having a baby was a big kind of rebirth for me, like artistically,” she said.
