Ah, summer is here, and it’s definitely my favorite time of the year. I don’t know about you, but I long for a road trip . So what would be perfect for a nice getaway? A camper , of course!
But what if I told you that you could ride in a classic Volkswagon Beetle that has been converted into a ‘Bug Camper?’ Do you like that idea? If you do, then check this out.
Who still loves the classic Volkswagen Beetle?

It’s such a cool ride, huh? Well, if you’re looking for some nostalgia I have good news for you. I had no idea that there are actual Volkswagen Beetles that got converted into an RV hybrid.
Here’s a little back story on this.

Volkswagen first came out with the iconic Beetle back in the 1930s. Volkswagen actually means the “people’s car,” and that’s exactly what it was built for — to be an efficient yet inexpensive car for the everyday family.
But what about longer trips?

Surely it’s a little small for that, huh? Don’t fret because somebody already thought of that. Apparently, there was a third-party company that converted the classic beetle into what we can call an RV hybrid.
Let me introduce you to the ‘Super Bugger.’

Come again? Ha, ha. Yes, that’s what they were marketed as back in the 1970s. This “Super Bugger” was a brainchild of a company that used fiberglass paneling to construct a small living space behind the two front seats. Aha! Now I get it.
OMG, how cool is that?

That’s right. Apparently, some people were able to fit a small kitchen in their reconstructed RV. Wow! Now, you can travel in style, and when you get hungry, you can stop and make yourself some food.
That’s genius, right?

Oh yeah! But what about sleeping? Would you be able to fit a bed in there? Well, probably not. But it’s still a cool vehicle. It’s not a typical RV, but then again, a beetle isn’t a typical car anyway.
And here’s another concept.
So get this. Apparently, there was a hitch that you could attach to your Volkswagon Beetle so you could haul it around. Honestly, I’ve never heard of this, and I’m sure not many people have either.
What do you think of this idea?
Wow! Who knew that this even existed, ha, ha. You really need to watch this in action, to fully appreciate it. So check out the YouTube video to see exactly what I mean. Wait until you see the Beetle spin.
So let me ask you: would you turn your old VW Beetle into an RV?

If you did that, I’m sure you would be the envy of your neighborhood. Everybody would like to take a ride in it, so be careful what you wish for, hehe. But it would be such a sweet way to go on a road trip, that’s for sure.
