If I was her I’d have caused a scene and told your brother I’d never talk to him to again even if you had decided you’d still have contact with him. And because she suggested an apology, she obviously cares about your relationship with your brother which makes this pretty heartbreaking honestly since your brother clearly doesn’t care at all. Your brother was out of order , has always been out of order and, if he doesn’t quit his behaviour, will always be out of order . You did nothing wrong and I’d say your reaction was reasonable .
