I have to be honest, I was starting to give up hope that a wild and viral fashion trend would hit the market in 2019. But thankfully, the Italian luxury goods and high fashion brand Bottega Veneta came t h r o u g h and did not disappoint.
It’s a super subtle one and creeping up slowly, but ankle tie pants might just be the latest viral fashion trend to turn heads and make people think a little.
There is no name for this fashion trend yet, but high end fashion house Bottega Veneta is trying to make whatever it is a thing.

The look was featured in styled photoshoots for their Resort 2020 collection.
In order to achieve this look, it requires either a coiled ankle show or long shoestrings to tie around the bottom of trousers.
Fashion-forward people are beginning to try it out themselves.

Clothing retailer Tibi’s own Amy Smilovic discovered a practical angle to the unique style choice.
“If u r in Austin. And if u don’t want ure pants to drag the ground. Ok?,” she captioned the photo.
I sort of hate to admit it, but she is totally right.

No more rolling or hemming needed!
As a person falling in the shorter end on the height spectrum, I know that I personally buy trousers and pants that I love that can be too long, and then I’m too lazy and cheap to go to a tailor and get them hemmed. Oops.
What do you think — will you be giving the latest 2019 fashion statement a try?

I have to thank Harling Ross at Man Repeller a giant nod for noticing the beginnings of this trend.
Now, it’s up to us to continue to spread the news.
