When we’re kids , all we ever want to do is grow up. But, when we get older, all we want to do is be a kid again. Being an adult seems like it’s all fun and freedom until we are an adult and see just how many problems we truly have and how hard it truly is to be grown .
Losing your job “just because.”
Being an adult means you may get fired and laid off due to no fault of your own, just due to politics or cutbacks.

Having to make big decisions on your own.
ablondedude points out that being an adult means you have so much freedom, even for things you have no idea about. Like, for example, choosing medical insurance, and then picking a plan, and then picking a doctor with zero to no knowledge of any of it.
Losing your loved ones.
“Loved ones passing away is the hardest. Then there’s the nasty breakdown of personal relationships, family relationships and friendships. Then there’s the sad drifting apart that happens when life takes you on a different path to a person you were once really close to,” wrote BlackCaaaaat.
Not being able to sleep because of stress.
Stress accumulates like stacks of bricks when you’re an adult. Bills and other life stresses like family, jobs, and other things can become overwhelming. Most of us lay awake at night and cannot sleep due to how stressed we are. Just “adulting.”
The whole multitasking thing.
“Being able to not cook the same meal everyday while balancing hundreds of other tasks. I will always admire my mom for how she was able to cook, have a clean house, work 43 hours and help her children do homework all while taking time to work out at the end of everyday,” said IrisNalvo.
Adults still being kids.
moonlitshroom points out that even when you’re an adult, the adults around you can oftentimes still be as immature as little kids and that can be hard to navigate a world where you want to be an adult but your friends are acting like teenagers.
Getting older means pain for some.
“Arthritis is fucking horrible and early onset autoimmune arthritis is worse than just having an ache in one or two joints. I hurt all the time, everywhere, and everyone just assumes you’re faking it or you’re a pill popper. I am not going to live another 20 years with this pain like my dad did,” wrote porcelina99.

A vast majority of people agree that one of the things no one prepares you for is watching your parents get older. They age right before your eyes and, many of us have to watch them pass. It’s a pain unlike any other to experience.
The cost of living.
“How expensive living is. I worked all through high school, but my only “bill” was the gas I put in my car. 30 hours a week on minimum wage goes a long way on shopping sprees and nail salons when you don’t have any other expenses,” said isweatglitter17.
Getting dumped as an adult hits different.
“My partner of 4 years left me with very little explanation or reason as to why; she just decided she wasn’t happy, I guess. Getting dumped can completely derail your life, and make you feel like you’re back at square one. It’s rough,” said myfacelookslikeafoot.

“Preparing for retirement. Of course everyone knows they will stop working at some point but now that I’m 40, it feels like I really need to get it together. The costs of being sick.
As a kid, you never understand just how much it costs when you’re sick because your parents deal with all that. As an adult, the bills pile up and pile up before you even get a little better. We’d all rather sweat it out and pray it’s nothing serious.
Making new friends is rough.
“When your not in school surrounded by your peers, meeting new people and making freinds is much harder and in many cases almost impossible. And dating is a whole other ball game.
