Keanu Reeves Discusses Why He Turned Down Appearing In Speed 2 With Sandra Bullock

Keanu Reeves has starred in some seriously top-tier action films throughout his acting career, with many of his films having a special place in people's hearts.

One of Keanu Reeves' earlier action films to capture people's hearts was the film Speed back in 1994. However, Reeves did not appear in the sequel, despite one of his costars continuing with the franchise.

Reeves portrayed Officer Jack Traven in the 1994 classic action film.

The film's central plot revolves around a bus that will explode if the bus's speed drops under fifty miles per hour — for the three people on Earth who haven't seen Speed.

Reeves famously starred alongside Sandra Bullock in the 1994 hit.

However, while Bullock returned for the sequel, Reeves opted not to return.

When asked in a recent interview on The Graham Norton Show why he did not reply, Reeves was very honest about his lack of involvement in the film's sequel.

Reeves explained that he did not "respond" to the script, but was very positive about his former costar.

Being able to work with Bullock again was apparently nearly enough to entice him back.

"At the time I didn't respond to the script. I really wanted to work with Sandra Bullock, I loved playing Jack Traven, and I loved 'Speed', but an ocean liner? I had nothing against the artists involved, but at that time I had the feeling it just wasn't right," Reeves said when asked by Jack Whitehall why he had turned the script down.

Although, Reeves will be retuning to another of his beloved blockbuster franchises before too long.

Reeves will be returning to The Matrix franchise with the new instalment The Matrix Resurrections later this month.

In the same interview, Reeves also expressed his shock at being asked back to the franchise:

"When the director asked me what I thought about doing another 'Matrix' film I said 'What? That sounds amazing but I'm dead.' She was like, 'Are you?'"

Fans will apparently be able to see Reeves in the new Matrix movie on December 22nd.

"Hopefully, people will enjoy it. It's very exciting, and it was an extraordinary experience to make it," Reeves also said of the new movie.

So, while we may not be seeing Reeves in another Speed movie any time soon, there is still plenty of other Keanu-content out there coming our way!
