Wife Refuses To Cook After Husband Dumps Week's Worth Of 'Unwanted' Food

I'll admit that I'm something of a picky eater.

Like many people, my tastes evolved as I got older and there's much more that I would happily eat than in decades past. But still, there are quite a few meals out there that I'd find myself choking down out of politeness instead of actually enjoying.

However, even when I was child and was prone to vomiting when made to eat something I didn't like, it was hardly impossible to compromise with me. After all, the problem usually came down to certain ingredients and I could appreciate that most people don't want to see food go to waste.

But it seems that these considerations didn't enter the mind of one man, which resulted in an ongoing feud with the wife he hurt with his actions.

Whenever one woman's family comes over, she makes their favorite meals.

However, whether it's because he's not used to Asian cuisine or because he simply doesn't like seafood, she explained in a Reddit post that her American husband doesn't like any of it.

Although the woman has offered to make something he likes along with what she cooked for her family, it seems he'd rather just eat the appetizers out of politeness and then complain later.

The leftovers from these meals are also a problem for him since she doesn't cook until they're gone. In that period, he opts to eat fast food.

But while this has been a lingering problem over their few months of marriage, it came to a head after her family cancelled on a dinner at the last minute.

The woman understood that things come up, but her husband could only respond with, "Great now who's going to eat all that unwanted food?"

And when she reiterated that she wouldn't cook again until the leftovers were gone, he retaliated by throwing all but one package of the leftovers out. He claimed it was because they smelled "funny," but they were as safe to eat as when she made them.

Considering the exchange they had just had before he did this, his real motive was fairly obvious.

But his ploy to get a fresh meal he liked backfired, as the woman admonished him for letting all that food — as well as the money and work that went into it — go to waste.

As she put it, "He argued that I shouldn't be cooking my family their favorite food everytime and should just have them eat what we usually eat."

But instead, she told him that she simply wouldn't be cooking for him again. And while he apologized for not telling her before he threw the food out, he still didn't think this was a fair response to his actions.

And as for why he doesn't just cook for himself, the woman said, "He said cooking just isn't his thing and called it lost cause."

Nonetheless, since the woman is upset by what they both said to each other, she wondered if she really was being unfair.

But the main response she got was a resounding "no," as Reddit users accused the man of weaponizing his incompetence and disrespecting her culture.

As one person put it, "He threw away food for no reason, except to show he is an entitled baby. He doesn't like your native cuisine. Ok, but that doesn't mean he should just throw out food that you would have eaten. He doesn't get to dictate what food you cook.."

In the words of another, "You offered to make other food for him and he goes 'no, no one's gonna eat anything I didn't approve of.' Your husband sucks."
