An 83-year-old woman's black cat helped save her life recently. His meowing led rescue teams to where she had fallen 70 ft down a ravine.
Who says black cats are bad luck? People can't get enough of this story and want to give the cat all the tuna.
They wrote that they had been looking for the 83-year-old woman when an interesting development occurred. A "member of the public" had found the owner's cat, a black cat named Piran.
This led police to find the woman. “The elderly female had fallen approximately 70 ft down a very steep embankment, with incredibly difficult access and uneven terrain,” police shared on Facebook.
Emergency officials hoisted the woman back up to the field via stretcher and then took her to the hospital to tend to her fall.
Police later updated their post to say that she was still receiving care but "in good spirits" and being well looked after.
They even shared a photo of the rescue kitty himself!
Tamar Longmuir, one of the woman’s neighbors, spoke to Sky News, saying that she and others searched fields in the area for the woman “but there was no sign of her.”
"The cat is very attached to her, and he was going back and forth in the gateway and meowing, so I decided to go and search the maize field,” Longmuir said.
"Just as I was going to go off the path and start going through the crop, I heard a very faint response to my calling. ... I then quickly realized my neighbor was down the 70-foot ravine,” Longmuir told Sky News.
Longmuir and her neighbor couldn't be more thankful for Piran's devotion to his owner.
"Without the cat waiting at the gate to that field, it could have been hours later that I or anyone else would have checked in there,” she said.
"Well done to everyone on a brilliant recovery and also for kitty for keeping up her crying," wrote one user. "
What a happy ending! The cat is a hero. She might not of been found in time if not for the bond and love of this pet for It's owner! Good job!" added another.
Tamar wrote on the Facebook post that she will definitely be buying Piran some treats. "Thanks to the cat that I found her, she knew she was in there somewhere bless her!"
The cat got confused and found its way to the middle of the field while the game was going. This interrupted the game while the field crew tried to shoo it off the field.
"his friend definitely bet him 20 bucks he would do this," the top comment wrote.
These stories prove one thing: cats aren't so bad, after all. Sure, dogs are pretty amazing, but cats can be heroic and make people's days, too!
