Bride Marries Wedding Guest After Groom Suddenly Flees The Ceremony

When it comes to your wedding day, there are a ton of things that can go wrong.

No matter how hard brides try to plan for a perfect day, things can go south rather quickly. Food can be mediocre, the DJ can mess up, or even drunk family members can embarrass you. But, the last thing people expect to go wrong at a wedding is a missing groom.

It turns out that "Runaway Bride" has given some inspiration to grooms, too.

According to an article in The Tribune, the wedding that was supposed to take place occurred in Maharajpur, in the Indian state of Madhya Pradesh.

The bride was all ready for her special day with her family when the groom completely disappeared from the venue.

The two had already completed a portion of the ceremony, too.

According to the report, the couple had already completed the jaimala, or exchanging of garlands, when he completely fled the scene.

People still do not know where the groom is and the reason he fled is still unclear.

Instead of canceling the entire ceremony, something else happened instead.

Someone suggested that instead of locating the missing groom or canceling the ceremony, the bride wed someone in the groom's party, called the baraat, instead.

The family of the bride chose an eligible suitor for the bride and they got married that very day instead.

On top of that, they filed a "formal complaint" against the runaway groom.

"We have received a complaint in this regard from both the bride and groom sides.

While the bride's side has sought suitable action against the groom and his family members, the groom's father, Dharampal, in his complaint, has sought police help to trace his missing son.

Investigations are continuing in this regard," stated an official in the city, regarding the matter between the two families.

What a wild wedding day!
