Woman Says She Found Out She's Actually Been 'Missing' Since 1980

Social media has a way of bringing crazy and unique stories and experiences to light by allowing individuals to share things globally. One woman actually went viral on TikTok this week after learning that she has been "missing" since 1980. Seeing as it's 2021, that is over 40-years—an entire lifetime for her.

So many things are brought to light on the internet, whether it's something good or something bad.

And sometimes through the internet, you hear about stories so wild, it's hard to believe that they are even true.

Like a woman who didn't even know she was a missing person.

TikTok user @thebeardedmom shared her story in a series of videos.

The TikTok user shared that she has been "missing" legally since 1980.

“I was a missing person, I had been since 1980. There was a police investigation I could not access because the records had been archived, but I had been kidnapped," she said.

She had originally found out when she was looking for information on her biological mother.

After finding out that her mother was not her "biological mother," she went to a sheriff to look for more information on who her actual birth mother was.

The sheriff became very interested and began to look into her name and information.

"[The sherrif] became extremely interested in who I was," she said.

"And my personal information and after a few minutes of having a conversation about who I was, he asked me to please sit down and that he had something to tell me,"

He had discovered she was a "missing person."

“I sat down, he told me he couldn’t find any information on my mother, but that I was a missing person,” she shared.

According to her videos, she was reported "missing" by her biological grandmother in 1980.

Her biological mother had "sold" her to another couple.

The TikTok user shares that her biological mother had sold her to another couple, who raised her as their own child.

However, her grandmother had reported this as a "kidnapping."

She also shared that her "new parents" were abusive to her throughout her life.

Although this became a state case, federal and state instigators failed to find why she was missing for over two decades.

After she began sharing her story, it soon went viral on TikTok, as most things do now..

Many people had dozens of questions for her, including why her biological family did not try to find her or look for her.

She had responded to the questions that, for the majority of her life, she had not known about the investigation or why they did not look for her.

“I essentially have two families, my biological family and the family who kidnapped me”, the TikToker says in a third video, all titled ‘My Kidnapping’.

Many also wanted to know if her mom ever apologized to her for selling her.

As anyone would wonder, many were questioning the relationship between the TikTok user and her mother who sold her. Many asked if her mother ever apologized or even recognized the struggles she had gone through.

The woman replied that her mother "did not" and that she feels to be the victim in this whole thing.

What a wild story.
