Bizarre 'Brain'-Like Discovery Leads To Unexpected Hilarity On Reddit

Have you ever found something random and asked yourself, "What is this thing?"

Well, the next time you find yourself in such a predicament, post a pic over on the r/whatisthisthing subreddit. They have an incredible track record for even the most random things found in the most random places.

Usually, there's a straightforward answer. Other times, things get pretty funny.

One poster was baffled by something they saw.

They posted their query, noting that they found something random by the side of the road.

"Thought it was a brain, then dissected it and now I have no idea," they wrote. "Lots of small lobes, fuzzy inside, rubbery?"

Mild spoiler alert: it wasn't a brain.

Most posts only provide one pic, but in this case, they gave eight.

This pic, with a shoe thrown in for scale, shows how big the 'brain' was: maybe about two inches by one inch in size.

They poked and prodded at it.

It was found on the ground, looks a bit like a brain, and looks like it may be related to another clump of 'brain' a few inches away. But what could it possibly be?

It almost has 'lobes'.

Lots of commenters agreed with the poster, saying that it does look decidedly brain-like.

But remember when I said that this definitely isn't a brain? Well, that still applies. This is not a brain.

The poster went the extra mile.

They took it home, put it on a napkin, then started to dissect it. A scientifically curious mind is bound to find answers, and let's just say that they were getting closer to the truth here.

Dog owners, are you catching on?

This isn't a brain, and it isn't a rare find. In fact, it's a perfect example of something you'll find on the ground pretty much anywhere you look. It's definitely something that isn't worth dissecting.

It's dog poop.

"Solved," wrote the original poster in an update. "I'm an idiot who dissected dog poop."

As numerous commenters pointed out, this is simply a bunch of paper towels that a dog ate and then pooped out.

Mystery solved...and props to the original poster for not deleting this example of internet hilarity.
