This Designer Upcycles Everyday Objects Into Trendy Functional Fashion Pieces

I don't know about you, but with all this talk about global warming, I've definitely been trying to do better at reusing, recycling, and repurposing old items. Now, I'm not the best when it comes to sewing, I have to admit. So that's usually where I give up.

But people like Nicole MacLaughlin inspire me to want to do better, although I'm not sure I would ever be able to get to her level of upcycling genius.

Nicole McLaughlin is a designer for Reebok by day, and a sustainability designer by night.

She creates the most wild, yet functional fashion pieces out of everyday objects.

For example, just check out this epic hiking shoe. Is it wacky? Yes. But is it extremely functional? Also yes.

What did Nicole do? THAT.

Nicole seriously turned a carton of eggs into a pair of chunky slides. I am beyond.

While her shoes have been the key pieces to send her into social media virality, she also makes unique clothing garments.

Yes, this is a bra made out of camera cases. Anymore questions?

And while cargo pants get a lock of flack, these cargo pants are actually a design I can get on board with.

They're cool, they're trendy, they're functional, and you can probably fit a few bags of tater tots in those puppies.
