Home improvement is a fascinating subject, at least to me. I often find myself looking at the type of so-called ‘improvements’ people embark upon that frankly leave something to be desired .
Whether it’s an unusual bathroom, a bad kitchen reno, or an odd piece of furniture, there are pictures below that will satisfy the most curious souls. So go ahead check them out and let me know which one baffled you the most. I promise it will be an interesting few minutes for you.
1. This Wall Fix
Oh my goodness, what in the world is going on here? I honestly don’t have any words to explain what I see before my eyes. I clearly need an expert contractor to tell me what went wrong here.
2. This Ceiling Surprise
“Currently having the bathroom above our newly renovated kitchen redone, this is what I came home to today…”
I bet people love to come home and discover something like that? Let me ask you: how does that even happen? I’m so baffled.
3. This Unpleasant Situation
“This is my current job site. Showed up this morning where these homeowners are getting an addition, new roof, and new patio built in the back with other renovations, and now they need a new storm door, window, and siding in the front.”
Yikes!
4. This Unfortunate Incident
“Lockdown renovations look so easy on Instagram.”
You can say that again, haha. Word to the wise, the next time you want to paint your closet door, make sure you remove the clothes before you proceed, huh? Yes, that would be a good idea.
5. This Custom Bed
I have to admit I usually like custom-built beds. However, I don’t know how I feel about this one here. Would you create a wrestling ring for your kid? Hmm, it looks like fun, but it’s a no for me.
6. This Plunger Apparatus
Yes, a plunger is often necessary to have in your bathroom, but I’m quite baffled by what somebody created here. Do you understand any of it? If you do, please explain it to me as I’m not sure what I’m looking at.
7. This Paint Situation
I know it must really suck when you run out of paint almost at the end of finishing. Here’s a tip from some painters. You’re supposed to paint from the top down. Then you can put a chair or something in front of the missed spots. Oh yeah!
8. This Roof Extension
Check this out: Somebody decided to extend their roof, but I really don’t think this is how it’s done. What do you think? Are you with me on this? I would love to see a progress pic.
9. This Door Installation
Um, hello? Did anybody want privacy when going to the bathroom? I guess in this case somebody forgot that very important fact. I wonder how they can fix the issue now? Any guesses?
10. This Sad Discovery
“Just bought my first house. Was told there was hardwood under all the carpet. Tested a discreet corner in the closet, which did in fact have hardwood beneath. But not the living room. Looks like I’ll be spending too much money on new flooring now…”
Yikes!
11. This Appliance Revenge
“I’m doing renovations and my Roomba found a tiny piece of sheetrock.”
Oh no! I bet this person here is pretty ticked off. Imagine installing brand new floors in your kitchen, and then your appliance plots some kind of revenge? That doesn’t look good. Doesn’t it?
12. This Nice Fit
“My wife said, measure the door. I told her all doors are the same size…”
Dude, I’m only going to say this once, “Listen to the wife!” She is always right. Didn’t being married teach you anything? I guess she will be the one saying, “I told you so,” lol.
13. This Cabinet Install
I don’t know about you, but I spend a lot of time in my kitchen, and I value all the space I have in my cabinets. So if somebody installed my kitchen drawers like this, I sure would have something to say about it, and it wouldn’t be pleasant.
14. This Shower Head?
Wait a minute — this isn’t a shower head, it’s an actual sink fixture. So, what in the heck is it doing in the shower? I don’t know about you, but that wouldn’t fly in my home. No, sir. Get that thing out of here and fast.
15. This Unfortunate Occurrence
“My father forgot to tell me the renovations would be taking the stairs out today.”
Oh, shucks! It looks like this person will be stuck upstairs for quite some time. Well, at least now they have all the time in the world to redecorate that closet they’ve been meaning to tackle, ha, ha.
16. This Shower Accident
“How do you guys like my new shower?”
Say what? I wish I could hear this story here. I bet it was an interesting one. Nonetheless, somebody is going to have to clean that up and look for new glass shower doors. Good luck with that.
17. This Painting Disaster
“Dropped a 1/2 gallon of paint down the stairs.”
Oh, my! That doesn’t look great, huh? I wonder how this unfortunate person is going to get rid of all the stains from the stairs. The carpet isn’t such a big deal, but the stairs are another story, huh?
18. This Concrete Job
“A driveway crew was pouring concrete at a new house next to a duck pond. They went to lunch and came back to this…”
This ladies and gentlemen is what I call — the revenge of the ducks, I guess. Oh my gosh. I don’t envy the workers here.
Oh, man! That didn’t look right.
Let this be a lesson to you the next time you think renovating is a cakewalk. As you can clearly see, things can and will often go wrong. So be prepared for it. And when it does, make sure you have a professional on hand who can fix the mess you created, haha.
