Doctor's Medical License Suspended After False COVID Claims At Protest

On November 7, 2020, one of many 'Stop the Steal' protests was held at the Oregon State Capital in Salem, Oregon.

The peaceful gathering was to protest against the perceived election fraud that led to Joe Biden winning the Presidential Election.

Multiple non-partisan investigators, state offices, and the US Attorney General's office have since confirmed that there is no evidence of wide-scale election fraud that could overturn the results in the favor of Republicans.

But one of the speakers at the protest was scrutinized not for his opinions on the election, but of the current COVID-19 pandemic.

Dr. Steven LaTulippe said that he felt the crisis — which has killed 272,236 Americans at the time of this writing — is overblown.

"I hate to tell you this," he says, "I might scare you, but I and my staff, none of us, once wore a mask in my clinic."

"I want to expose what I call 'corona-mania,'" he continued.

This led to cheering from the crowd, but someone else who saw his speech was less impressed: the Oregon Medical Board.

After an investigation, the Board made a decision.

As of December 3, 2020, Dr. Steven LaTulippe's medical license has been suspended indefinitely.

The public speech was just the latest and most damning evidence against the doctor, who had been the subject of patient complains to the Board since the start of the pandemic.

One patient who asked him why his advice didn't match experts' in July was simply terminated as a patient for questioning him.

The Board was able to suspend his license without a hearing because they believed his refusal to wear a mask when seeing patients, and making patients remove their own masks, was a "serious danger to the public health or safety."

The Board notes in their report that use of masks has shown to decrease the coronavirus' transmission person-to-person.

"Although masks vary in effectiveness, even the simplest mask can be expected to contain the largest, most infectious droplets. The effectiveness of masks has been scientifically shown to decrease disease transmission in the current pandemic."

Aside from ignoring the facts of the virus and how it is transmitted, Dr. LaTulippe and his staff were violating the OHA and OSHA requirements for medical practices during the crisis.

Multiple news sources indicate that they attempted to contact the doctor for comment, but he has declined.
