And while the six-time Oscar award-winning film has still lived on in the hearts of fans everywhere, word of a second film has been swirling around Hollywood for a while now and finally , we have ALL OUR ANSWERS!

When the news broke this past summer that the iconic actress that MADE THE FILM WHAT IT WAS, Charlize Theron, would not be a part of the sequel, fans were understandably upset.
However, many fans were holding onto hope that Charlize would ultimately be in the prequel film because… well… it’s CHARLIZE THERON!
And to be fair, director George Miller had said he was considering using de-aging technology on the 44-year-old in an effort to keep her in the franchise.
Sadly, those dreams were officially crushed when the casting for the upcoming prequel was released.
According to Variety director George Miller has hired Anya Taylor-Joy, Chris Hemsworth, and Yahya Abdul-Mateen II to star in the sequel, aptly titled Furiosa .
Charlize’s replacement, Anya Taylor-Joy, is 24-years-old.
Naturally, Twitter was feeling some type of way about the replacement.
“What a difference an actor makes. Jodie Comer would’ve had me all over a Furiosa spinoff, but apparently, it’s a go with Anya Taylor-Joy, who – great as she is – possesses circa zero amounts of Furiosa energy,” tweeted @SimonLundmark.
There’s no denying that Anya is an amazing actress. You may recognize her from her roles on “Peaky Blinders,” “The Witch,” and “Split.”
However, it’s hard to put aside the ageism in the decision to replace Charlize, as was stated by @jesdejonah , who tweeted, “if it was a male actor they would’ve done some irishman cgi to make it believable.”
Needless to say, there’s a lot of opinions about the recasting choice, and most people aren’t thrilled.
