Val Kilmer Opens Up About Life After Throat Cancer In Rare On Air Interview

During a rare on air interview, Hollywood legend Val Kilmer spoke with Good Morning America about his new memoir, I’m Your Huckleberry.

In his memoir, the relatively quiet actor is opening up about his throat cancer battle for the first time.

“I feel a lot better than I sound, but I feel wonderful,” Val said.

"I was diagnosed with throat cancer, which healed very quickly," he explained.

"This is a tracheotomy to help me breathe because the glands in my throat swelled up as well."

The actor has revealed he underwent a tracheotomy, chemotherapy and radiation while battling throat cancer.

When asked about what he misses the most about his old voice, he replied he misses having one.

“That I had one! That I didn’t laugh like a pirate,” he said.

The 60-year-actor proved his wit is still intact.

I'm Your Huckleberry also divulges into Val's romantic history, a subject he has been very quiet about in the past.

"I'm committed. You have to be committed with a woman that's as dynamic and as committed to their work," he explained.
