Netflix's 'The Witcher' Season 2 Likely To Become Biggest TV Premiere Ever

Yes, it seems that we now know what we always had a feeling about The Witcher is pretty darn popular.

In fact, it's so popular that it is smashing all the competition it has on Netflix!

Alright, let's find out why Season 2 of The Witcher is going to be the biggest TV premiere for Netflix.

So Netflix recently changed how they discover a TV show's ratings.

Netflix

Back in the day, a person had to watch at least 70% of an episode or movie for it to be counted towards a "watch".

But that wasn't enough for Netflix executives.

This was in a letter to shareholders:

Netflix

"We believe that reporting households viewing a title based on 70 percent of a single episode of a series or of an entire film, which we have been doing, makes less sense. We are now reporting on households (accounts) that chose to watch a given title.”

So what does it all mean?

Netflix

Essentially, they're going to change their views system so that if you watch 2 minutes of a show, that counts as a view.

That being said, Netflix executives have predicted that with this new system, The Witcher Season 2 is going to be their biggest show yet.

Keep in mind, the first season got 76 million viewers within its first four weeks of being on the air.

So can we expect that number to double under the new regime? Perhaps even triple?

Only time will tell.
