Alanis is in the press now more than ever!

The songstress was also recently honored with the Icon Award Thursday at the "Billboard" Women in Music event.

While accepting her award, Alanis gave a speech about overcoming patriarchal crap in the '90s.

“I wanna salute the women who go to work who are really, really sensitive, and are terrified… and still go," Alanis said.

She explained she “really wanted to be friends with these artists who were touring at the same time" as her, but explained the issue that came with that.

"It was challenging, because if there was not going to be any sex or any kind of romantic interaction, then they didn’t know what to do with me. So they ignored me backstage.”

She then recalled the different perceptions the public has had of her through the years.

She was viewed as "really angry" then "spiritual" and "quirky."

“I was called an elephant man, I was loved and ignored, and adored and hated, then I was considered really hip, and then totally irrelevant, and then totally relevant again, and then I was considered a boss, and a podcaster."

"And these roles and archetypes are within all of us," she explained.

“Thank you patriarchy, for crumbling and falling,” she concluded.
