Megyn Kelly Roasts COVID-Stricken Savannah Guthrie: 'She's Had All the Vaccines'

Kelly did not express any form of sympathy as she zeroed in on what could cause Guthrie to be affected by COVID-19 again. Guthrie was said to have exited her co-hosting duties on Tuesday having tested positive for Coronavirus. This has been amid her morning broadcast on Today.

Kelly made it known that it was the third time Guthrie was in the news for having COVID-19. Speaking on her Sirius XM podcast, the former NBC staffer stated, "I guarantee you she’s had all the vaccines and the boosters because you won’t be able to go into 30 Rock without them. There’s zero chance NBC is not requiring all boosters,” Kelly added. “And this is [Guthrie’s] third bout of COVID.” 

She went on by asking some rhetorical questions as she expressed her surprise that people still tested for coronavirus. She noted that it was "a perfect indication of how the left and especially the left in New York continues to live." Kelly added for good measure that she did not test for COVID-19 any longer.

Singling out iconic weatherman, Al Roker, the American journalist suggested that he would appear on his show the next day wearing an N95 protective mask. She stated, "I got dollars to donuts that [Al] Roker’s there with an N95 tomorrow all day on set …" Kelly worked at NBC on her show Megyn Kelly Today from 2017 to 2018.

Kelly's profile as a broadcaster has seen her work with Fox News, before moving to NBC. Her stint with the broadcast company lasted 21 months during which she had several controversial moments.

Some of her drama-filled moments with the franchise included when she defended the use of 'blackface." The TV star also interviews conspiracy theorist Alex Jones and alienated celebrities like Jane Fonda. Her tiff with Fonda started after she asked the actress about her plastic surgery.

Amid her issues with the production company, Comcast, which is NBC's parent company negotiated a 90 million buyout of Kelly's multi-year contract. This happened earlier in 2018, and it did finalize her exit from the show and the company as a whole. She has since kept up her broadcast career with her Sirius XM podcast.

The 51-year-old had been holding it down for a few weeks since her fellow host Hoda Kotb's unexpected absence from the show. As of Tuesday, February 28, Guthrie was joined by Sheneille Jones, but the turn of events had fans even more worried. At about 7:30 am and a few hours into the morning show, Guthrie left her chair.

Jones continued the show without Guthrie but before she was done with the segment, the TV star made it known that the latter had a health emergency. She explained, "By the way, it has been an interesting morning for us. As we said, Savannah left early, she wasn't feeling great, so she took a Covid test. It came back positive."

Although she is vaccinated against the virus, Guthrie tested positive twice for Coronavirus in 2022. At the time, she told her fellow host, she felt a cold and planned to use her days in isolation to get some sleep.

For over a week now, fans have missed the TV star on her shows, Today and Today with Hoda and Jenna. While the mom-of-two co-hosted with Jenna Bush Hager on February 20 for President's Day, the next episode was pre-recorded.

Since her absence, Kotb's fellow TV presenters have filled in for her as the days go by. World New Tonight host, Tom Llamas, and Today 3rd Hour co-anchor Craig Melvin has been serving as substitutes. The duo alternate as they take charge of Kotb's post beside Guthrie. Willie Geist and Jones filled up for her on her show with Hager.

The other hosts did not give hints as to why Kotb was not on seat, and the TV personality in question has also not broken her silence on it. However, her social media posts seem to carry messages showing that she was still present on the internet.

On Instagram, the broadcaster has been posting subtle messages with motivational quotes with no references to her absence at work. One of her recent posts from Monday read the words, "Sometimes miracles are just good people with kind hearts."

In retrospect, all of Kotb's posts have had fans filing to her comment section with concern. Many reached out to her, hoping all was well in her family. Others noted her absence on Today while relaying that her subtle posts were quite worrisome.

After over a week of no address, Craig Melvin finally let fans in on why Kotb has been absent. Melvin stated that the NBC star stayed away from work because she was dealing with family health issues. He continued by noting that the crew looked forward to Kotb and Guthrie's return.

With both women out of their shows, there has been no announcement on what would be the fate of their slated shows. Kotb's Today podcast, known as Making Spaces has released new episodes since February 20.

In the last few years, Kotb became a mom to two adorable baby girls, Haley Joy, and Hope Catherine. The star has had to adjust her schedule to make time for her beloved daughters while forging ahead in her career.

The 58-year-old co-parents with her former partner Joel Schiffman. The duo was together for a long time before Schiffman popped the question. However, they never made it down the aisle. Despite their split, the pair have an understanding that works perfectly for their lives as parents.
