Selena Gomez has lost a viewer when it comes to her documentaries, but not in the traditional way. The 30-year-old pop singer and actress was back in the news at the end of December 2022 as actor Steve Martin says he won't be watching her latest one.

Speaking of his Only Murders in the Building costar, Steve said that he has "paternal" feelings towards the Rare Beauty founder, herself fresh from the release of her My Mind & Me mental health documentary.

In a very touching reveal, the Pink Panther actor said, "I kind of resist because I feel parental toward her or friendly or something and I know it's sad," as he spoke on the TV series The View.

"Somehow I just don’t want to see her sad," Martin added.

Keen To See Her Do More

Steve did, however, sweetly say that he encourages the former Disney star to continue her work in the documentary realm - Selena, who suffers from both anxiety and depression, is now widely regarded as a mental health warrior.

Put Her All Into It

Selena braved being an open book in My Mind & Me.

"She poured her heart and soul into this and it took a heck of a lot of courage to go as deep into her journey as she did,” a source told Us Weekly.

Early Twenties Onwards

The ex to singer Justin Bieber spoke to Rolling Stone amid the docu release, noting that she first began experiencing symptoms in her early twenties.

“I started to feel like I was not in control of what I was feeling, whether that was really great or really bad," Selena said.

Friends Bringing Her Food In Bed

Seemingly hinting at some shame, Selena said that she didn't want people to know that she was struggling. Here, the Wolves hitmaker revealed, "My friends would bring me food because they love me, but none of us knew what it was. Sometimes it was weeks I’d be in bed, to where even walking downstairs would get me out of breath.”

Lupus, Too

Selena is battling both her mental health and her physical one. She suffers from the autoimmune disease, Lupus. In 2017, she underwent a life-saving kidney transplant.

Living Her Best Life

Selena is now more popular than ever. She's got a cooking show, Only Murders in the Building, her music, plus her PUMA gig.
