Cameron Diaz, 49, Is Ready For Menopause And Plans To Live To 110

Cameron Diaz is all about living young.

She wrote books about anti-aging practices, such as The Body Book and The Longevity Book. So clearly, she knows what she's talking about.

As she enters the next phase of her life — menopause — she's ready for that, too. But that doesn't mean she's giving into aging quite yet, as the star has declared that she wants to live to 110.

The former movie star is approaching the big 5-0.

It's hard to believe, considering she still looks so young! This is even after having her first child, a baby girl named Raddix at the age of 47, with her husband, Benji Madden.

Most people would freak out about turning 50.

It's a huge milestone and there's no guarantee on how much time you have left. It could be 10 years, 20, or even 30. It's a crapshoot that Diaz wants to make more certain.

Part of making this happen was slowing down her exercise routine after an Achilles heel injury.

In an interview with Goop founder, Gwyneth Paltrow, she said that it's kept her away from working out for eight months.

"I used to be really strong and really active, and I was made to sort of be still for a while," she said.

"Being so strong most of my life, I was used to going hard and leaning into my strength, and I've had to do the opposite," she added.

After a while, she learned to honor the fact that she had an injury instead of pushing herself.

Taking time to rest made her realize the importance of tuning in to your body.

"It’s been a process of building myself back, and I feel like I’m stronger now than when I started. I’m looking forward to all the aspects of growth to come in my 50s."

She's even gearing up for menopause.

"I’m working on building my muscle mass so I’ll have it as my hormones change," she said.

She added that "the whole concept of aging" has changed in the past 10 years, and is excited about what's to come.

This includes getting to the ripe age of 110.

"It's totally opened up. I'm excited. I've got 50 or 60 years to go - I want to live to be 110, since I've got a young child," she told Gwyneth.

"I think you have this amazing moment in your 40s where you appreciate who your parents are, and I want to have that moment with her - be there with her in her 40s."

It shouldn't be hard for the star to get to that age.

She declared that she comes from a family of "sturdy stock."

“My grandmother was running around in the hot San Fernando Valley sun at 72, hauling big bags of rabbit feed and chicken feed around," she said, adding that she thinks she has some of that same gusto.

"And as is true for most people, I think how I look and feel is some combination of what I do and what I don’t do," she continued.

When it comes to age, Cameron is already used to a few things.

Like being the oldest mom in her group of friends.

"I'm lucky to be my age, lucky to have those girlfriends, lucky to have my daughter, lucky to have all the support I do raising her," she said.

We could all take a lesson from Cameron on aging gracefully!
