There are a lot of words that come to mind when I think about Keanu Reeves : hero, icon, and of course — legend. And of all the incredible films to Keanu’s credit, my favorite is John Wick .
That being said, by no means do I try and pretend that it’s without fault. See what I mean and check out these 10+ John Wick mistakes fans didn’t notice!
John Wick can’t count.
Near the beginning of the film, John’s home is broken into and he quickly dispatches 13 armed assailants.
Yet when he calls to make his ‘dinner reservation’ he says that it’s for twelve, not thirteen?
I’ve never seen a rubber knife?
Watch closely during the final death of the home invasion scene. John stabs his attacker three different times.
On the second and third stab, you can clearly see the knife flex under the pressure.
Something’s wrong with John’s umbrella.
Take a look as John meets Marcus in the cemetery. When the scene starts off, John is holding an umbrella with eight ribs.
When the camera cuts, the umbrella is replaced with a twenty-two-ribbed umbrella.
Viggo’s accent is off-putting.
For being one of the more prominent figures in the Russian mafia, Viggo sure does sound an awful lot like a Swede .
It’s not something you’ll notice immediately but anyone with an ear for language should spot it without issue.
There’s nothing underneath John Wick’s car.
Take a look as Viggo knocks John’s car off the dock. Right before it flips right-side-up, we get two clear shots of the vehicle undercarriage.
There’s no exhaust system, heck — there isn’t even an engine!
How did that bullet hole get there?
When Ms. Perkins enters John’s hotel room in an attempt to kill him, she fires three shots that go into the glass.
If you pause it just right, you’ll see the third hole show up before the third shot is fired!
Technically, John wouldn’t have been allowed to pump his own gas.
They say you learn something new every day. I, for one, had absolutely no idea that it was illegal to pump your own gas in the state of New Jersey.
Apparently, this was news to John as well.
What’s up with all the weird weather?
In the final scene, pay close attention to the weather. There are some serious inconsistencies with the rain pouring down.
Not only does the intensity change but the puddles around John even disappear!
Did anyone catch the make and model of that SUV?
Toward the end of the film, when John is inside the compound, he’s rammed with a black SUV.
You don’t have to be a gear head to see that the car changes from a Ford to a Chevy!
Where did John get that gun?
The nightclub fight scene is hands down my favorite in the film. Watch as John gets flipped on his back — you can clearly see there’s no gun or holster strapped to his chest.
But then as soon as the camera cuts, all of a sudden it is right there.
The death of Viggo raises a lot of questions.
You know you’re a cool cat when you can pull a knife from out your body and use it to stab your assailant. That, ladies and gentlemen, is quintessential John Wick.
However, you’d think that there’d of course be blood on the blade, wouldn’t you? Considering it was literally just inside John? But such is certainly not the case as you can plainly see.
Did John wipe his phone?
The first mistake happens within the first minute of the movie.
When John takes out his phone to watch the video of his late wife, the blood spatter on the screen changes almost instantaneously.
What happened to the bullet hole in the pillow?
At the very beginning of the film, Malcolm fires a warning shot into John’s pillow to wake him up.
As soon as John rolls off of the bed and the camera cuts back — the bullet hole has vanished!
The envelope changes shape in John’s hands.
Watching John read his late wife’s letter is one of the more emotional moments of the entire franchise.
It almost makes you forget that the envelope changes from a pointed-fold to a cross-cut horizontal flap!
Can John Wick time travel?
That would be the only explanation for a very questionable scene early on in the film. Watch as John places the bracelet on the night table by the bed.
The time on the clock quickly changes from eight to ten!
