While there are plenty of reasons to get a tattoo, there are usually more reasons to remove it.

Many of them are among those who regret their decisions to get tattoos, whether because of a weird design, or because they decided to get their lover’s name on their body.
Let’s get into those who decided to remove them!
1. Angelina Jolie
Back when Angelina and Billy Bob Thornton were a thing, she committed the cardinal sin of tattooing a lover’s name.
When they broke up, she replaced it with the geographic coordinates of her children’s birthplaces. Much better, if you ask me.
2. Kat Von D
Even tattoo artists regret their tattoos!
When she was engaged to Jesse James, she got an image of him when he was a child. Super adorable, right? Well, when they split, she didn’t waste any time having it removed.
She even documented the process on Instagram!
“You get to wear the most stylish pair of special-laser-shades when you go to @DrTattOffInc ! :)” she captioned the photo, in addition to adding the hashtag #tattooremovalparty.
At least she enjoyed herself!
3. Eva Longoria
Back when the actress was married to basketball player Tony Parker, she got several tattoos to symbolize their love.
She had his basketball jersey number on the back of her neck, his initials, and the date of their wedding, “July 7, 2007,” written in Roman numerals on her right wrist.
But after it was discovered that Parker was having an affair, their marriage was over.
Eva even documented the process of having the tattoo on her wrist removed in 2016.
“This is a tale for all young kids,” Longoria said in the video . “It hurts to get a tattoo, but it’s 10 times worse getting it off!”
4. Rumer Willis
The daughter of Demi Moore and Bruce Willis once had a giant lion tattoo on her left arm, as one does.
But she decided to get it removed because it was “negatively affecting her ability to land acting gigs.”
5. Heidi Klum
While the model is crazy in love with her new husband now, she was once married to singer Seal.
For years, she had his name on her right forearm. But when they broke up, she also split from the tat.
6. Kelly Osbourne
The TV host had not one, not two, but 15 tattoos removed.
These included red wings on her back to honor her mother, Sharon Osbourne, the word “Daddy” to honor her father, Ozzy Osbourne, and the name “Jack” in honor of her brother.
When she was on the talk show *This Morning*, she said that the tattoos were a “mistake.”
She said that it was “my way of self harming, because I really knew it would upset my mum and dad.”
She added, “As you get older, you realize that you don’t want to be defined by your tattoos, because that’s not the type of person that I am.”
7. Pharrell Williams
You wouldn’t be able to tell now, but the singer used to be covered in interesting tattoos.
He had them removed as a way to ” clean up ” his act. “I got fire on my arms! I’m a grown man!”
He went to great lengths to have this done.
In addition to the laser, he had a skin graft. “These guys actually grow the skin for you,” he told Vogue UK .
“First you have to give them a sample of your skin, which they then replicate. Once that’s been done, they sew it on – and it’s seamless.”
8. Mark Anthony
Back when the Puerto Rican singer and Jennifer Lopez were married, he got “Jennifer” tattooed on his right wrist. It was obviously a big mistake.
While they’re still ” good friends ,” it’s only appropriate that he covered it up after their split.
9. Colin Farrell
The Horrible Bosses star has many tattoos that he has been slowly removing over the years.
The reason why? He told The Late Late Show last year that the tattoos have actually been making his career as an actor more difficult.
“I’m getting rid of them because I got tired of getting painted in the makeup chair anytime I wear a T-shirt,” he said.
“It buys me an extra 45 minutes sleep in the morning. Obviously, none of them had that much significance to me that I would choose 45 minutes over my own history!”
10. Chris Zylka
In case you don’t know who Chris is, he used to be engaged to Paris Hilton. During this time, he got this Disney-inspired tattoo for her.
But when they split, he got it covered up with a gorilla. Yes, really.

Megan’s Marilyn Monroe tattoo used to be her most iconic tattoo, but she got it removed after learning more about her idol’s life.
“I started reading about her and realized that her life was incredibly difficult,” she told Esquire in 2013.
“It’s like when you visualize something for your future. I didn’t want to visualize something so negative.”
She said that she didn’t want to follow in the late actress’s footsteps.
“She wasn’t powerful at the time. She was sort of like Lindsay [Lohan]. She was an actress who wasn’t reliable, who almost wasn’t insurable.”
12. Kaley Cuoco
Who could forget The Big Bang Theory star’s whirlwind marriage to tennis pro, Ryan Sweeting?
Well, thanks to Kaley’s tattoo of their wedding date (December 31, 2013) in Roman numerals on her back, she couldn’t.
That’s clearly why she had it replaced with a moth-like insect.
When asked by Ellen DeGeneres why she picked a bug, she said, “Because it was big enough to cover the numbers…the wings. Big wings,” she joked.
“It’s just what I picked out when I was there.”
13. Denise Richards
Back in the day when Denise Richards was married to Charlie Sheen, they each got each other’s names tattooed on them.
However, once they got divorced , Denise covered up his name with a fairy. Smart move, to be honest.
16. Rose McGowan
Rose McGowan once had a pin-up tattoo on her shoulder blade, but she ended up getting it removed.
She never explained why she got it, or why she removed it, but either way, it is long gone.
17. Johnny Depp
Johnny Depp has had more than one ex-lover’s tattoos removed!
He once had “Slim” across his fingers for Amber Heard, but it now reads “Scum.” He also used to have “Winona Forever” for Winona Rider, and it now says “Wino Forever.”

Back when Griffith was married to Antonio Banderas, she was one of the celebs who decided to tattoo a heart on her right arm, with his name.
Once they got divorced, she completely erased their relationship by removing it.

This famous star once had a tattoo of barbed wire on one of her arms.
Once 2014 came around, she decided to remove it . No one really knew what her piece meant, as she never revealed it. Whatever it was, she decided it wasn’t good enough to last.

Back when 50 Cent was trying to get into the movie business, the rapper chose to remove tons of his tattoos so that it would not interfere with a film career.
He was tired of having to be at movies hours before everyone else to get them covered up.
19. Mark Wahlberg
When speaking about his tattoos on _ The Late Late Show with James Corden_, he admitted that he had a ton he got removed.
When prompted as to why he made that decision, he gave a simple answer: “Maturity. Sensibility.”
20. Iggy Azalea
The rapper once had “Live Love A$AP” tattoos on her fingers, as a tribute to her boyfriend.
But once they broke up, she ended up removing the tattoos and was spotted leaving a cosmetic center with her fingers wrapped.
