When we begin dating and looking for partners to spend our life with, many of us have rules and boxes we want that person to check off.
Some of us want someone who is blonde, others want them to have a great job, and some want them to come from a good family . Having some things we “like” in a person is pretty normal.

For many women, height is something they have a “box” for.
Many women often say they want a man who is tall. They even go as far as to say that they want someone who is a specific height. Many women will say that they want to date someone who is 6’0″ or taller.
However, one TikTok user recently went viral for arguing that women need to “let high preferences go.”
Many women will go on a date, or even match with someone on a dating app, but do not want to pursue them or continue the relationship if they are not “tall enough” for them. TikTok user Ayandastood says we need to “completely let this go.”
After posting the video, many people in the comments came for her, saying she’s wrong.
There were hundreds of comments saying that there is no reason to have to change up their standards and preferences because they want to be happy and be with someone they are “attracted to,” and don’t want to settle.
After receiving a lot of hate in comments, Ayandastood posted a few other videos to combat it.
Ayandastood said she respected everyone’s opinions and respected that some women didn’t want to change up their “preferences,” but she has seen too many women let go of someone who is “great” just because they feel that they are “short.”
She claimed it’s “okay to have a preference.”
“It’s okay to have a preference…but if you meet a short man who is treating you like queen, who you’re attracted to, who you have similar goals to, and it checks every other box, and the thing that’s holding him back is height, I just hope you’ll make the right decision,” she said.
However, women still didn’t agree.
After still receiving hate in the comment sections, the TikTok user decided to break down the math about how many men are even available and out there that are 6’0″ and taller. In reality, it’s a very, very small pool.
So, Ayandastood turned to math and science.
Using a scientific study and some math, she pulled up nothing but facts and even some graphs to help match. In the United States, there are only 14.5% of men who are 6’0″ and above. However, of those men, not all of them are even single.
Clearly, there are some tall men already off the market.
Of the 14.5% of men who are 6’0″ and above, only 31% are single. This makes the pool even smaller than before. On top of that, not all men who are single are “looking for love.” Of the 31% of men who are single, 15% of that population are “looking.”

When you do the math to find out how many men are single, tall, and also looking for love, the TikTok user says that only a tiny 2% of men are fitting into that category. But, there were even more factors.
The TikTok user also said, this doesn’t count other factors.
Of the 2%, not all of them are straight men, also interested in women. We also have to take into account men who are interested in other men , taking them also off of the table for women who want a “tall man.”
At the end of her “tall guy” series, Ayandastood basically asked, why don’t we try dating “short men?”
All in all, Ayandastood said she “understood” people liking who they like, but she also opened the door to ask why we always sometimes base our preferences on “appearance” rather than heart or personality.
And, at the end of the day, if we are all basing our preferences on the “tall” card, we’ll all be fighting over the same man!
