Dating a coworker is pretty hit or miss. You could meet your soulmate at work. Alternatively, you could date someone, have it end badly, and end up having to see that same person day after day until one of you gets a new job.
Going out with the adult child of a coworker is probably ten times riskier. Not only do you have to go through the awkward first date stage with a new person, but you have their parent asking you about it every time you go to work.
A Reddit user recently had to deal with a coworker’s attempt to set the user up with her son. Things got more than a little uncomfortable when the Redditor refused. Now, she’s asking AITA if she was in the wrong to do so .

Her Assistant Manager Tried To Set Her Up
OP, a 20-year-old woman, works alongside her 45-year-old assistant manager. She’d mentioned in conversation that she’s single, and the manager asked if OP would like to be set up with her son, 19. OP agreed at the time.
Later, OP overheard the manager talking with other coworkers about how her son is needy and does very little for himself. OP immediately got the ick and decided she didn’t want to date the son after all. Upon telling the manager this, things got a lot more awkward at work. Now, OP is seriously wondering if she made a faux-pas in the workplace that can’t be undone.
Commenters Agreed That OP Wasn’t In The Wrong

In fact, it was pretty inappropriate for an assistant manager to try and set her son up with someone who works under her. At the same time, though, commenters agreed that OP should not have accepted in the first place.
Based on the manager’s comments about her son, though, it seems like OP dodged a bullet.
Manager Is Trying To Pawn Her Son Off On Someone Else

Perhaps she’s sick of catering to her son’s every need, which is why she’s so quick to set him up with a potential conflict of interest. Or, perhaps she’ll be a controlling mother-in-law. Either way, OP made the right choice.
What Kind Of Person Is He

Many argued that, if the son needs his mom to set him up on dates, that could lead to a lot of deeper issues in the long run. Likewise, most people wouldn’t want their parents to try and set them up on dates.
