Sometimes you’re presented with an item that you just can’t identify. Back in the day, you had to hope someone you knew had a clue or just remain curious.
But these days, we have the internet and when your Google-Fu skills aren’t up to the challenge, you can always ask Reddit.
In fact, there’s an entire subreddit called r/whatisthisthing designed specifically for that.
Usually, people post strange thrift store finds or weird things found in nature.
It’s actually pretty amazing how quickly someone with the right knowledge base will chime in with the answer. It’s crowdsourcing knowledge at its most powerful.
So when user A1experry had something to identify, he knew where to turn.
A friend had offered to buy him a beer if he could figure out what it was.
Usually, gender doesn’t factor in, but the fact that the friend was a woman is a clue.
His first thought was that it was “one of those birds you balance on your finger.”
However, this wasn’t a case where he thought it was smart to go with his gut.
So he decided to ask in a place where he could get nearly a million second opinions.
He posted it with the query: “What is this weird wishbone looking thing?”
And I bet he’s really ( really really ) glad he did, because he was going to be buying beer for his friend for the rest of his life.
There were a couple of wrong responses at first.
I sort of see where this idea came from, but it’s hilariously wrong.
The correct answer came surprisingly quickly, though.
Almost immediately someone informed him that it’s an anatomical model of a c******s.
Yes, really. No, stop laughing. It’s really a c******s.
Needless to say, he was pretty embarrassed.
“Wow. I seem really sexually inept now,” he replied, “This is solved.”
And yet, many people admitted to not knowing either.
Some of them were even women.
Which isn’t that surprising, really, though I hate to admit it.
It’s not something most s*x ed classes touch upon.
(Yes, that was on purpose.)
It may have shown up on a diagram, and may even have been labeled.
However, most curriculum avoid anything so specific to sexual pleasure.
And that’s especially true when it concerns a woman’s pleasure.
At the very least, we’ve made it further than when one commenter was in anatomy classes.
For the record, female genitalia isn’t “amorphous tissue,” and in an anatomy class the teacher should have known that.
People were pretty lighthearted about it and only a few r**e comments needed to be deleted.
Many were simply curious about how the wishbone thing fit into the whole… you know what? This is impossible to write without puns. Intentional or otherwise.
So while we see just the… tip, there’s a whole lot more going on with the c******s than we realize.
So maybe it should be covered in s*x ed a little bit more, ‘kay?
There was one comment that brought up an unnerving comparison…
Is it wrong that I laughed at this? And then looked again, and laughed again?
S*x ed shouldn’t be this scary.
A1experry took it pretty well too, and even managed one last great pun.
I’ve officially added the word “cliteracy” to my vocabulary. It’s kind of the perfect word for describing the need for more education about women’s reproductive health.
Plus, it’s just plain funny.
