Donald Trump left the Super Bowl before it wrapped up, even though he dropped millions just to be there. His early exit left people talking. Was it because of the game, the halftime show, or logistical reasons? People have plenty of theories!
Trump’s attendance cost a fortune
Word on the street is that Trump probably spent somewhere between $15 million and $20 million on his Super Bowl trip. This wasn’t just for the tickets; the costs covered Secret Service protection, air travel, the motorcade, local cops, and even some upgrades to the stadium’s security.
Trump left early, around the halftime show
He was the first sitting president to show up at the Super Bowl, but Trump ended up leaving before the game was over. A flight tracker had him taking off around 8 pm, which just happened to be about when Kendrick Lamar was doing his halftime performance.
Did Trump leave because the Chiefs were losing?
A lot of people on X seemed to think Trump left because the Kansas City Chiefs were getting crushed by the Philadelphia Eagles. Trump’s never said which team he roots for, but he’s been pretty positive about the Chiefs before.
Apparently, Brittany Mahomes, Patrick Mahomes’ wife, is a rumored Trump fan. Plus, Travis Kelce, the Chiefs’ star tight end, said it was “an honor” to play in front of the president.
Someone even posted a pic of Kelce with a message saying: “Imagine saying ‘it’s an honor’ for Trump to watch you play at the Super Bowl only for him to leave early cause y’all was getting beat so bad. LOOOOSSEEERRRRRR.” The Chiefs did end up losing, 40-22, in their bid for a third Super Bowl in a row.
Was it Kendrick Lamar’s performance that made Trump leave?
While a lot of people were focused on Kendrick’s shots at Drake, others noticed that Kendrick’s performance had some pretty obvious digs at Trump. One part of his performance had a line that was changed to, “The revolution is about to be televised, you picked the right time but the wrong guy.”
People on X were quick to point out that this was a clear reference to Trump. One fan tweeted: “Kendrick Lamar dissed Trump and protested the United States in front of him and Trump got scared and left the Super Bowl early. It just doesn’t get any better than that.”
Another added: “Kendrick knew Trump was in attendance and he still did that. Epic.” Kendrick also threw in a reference to “forty acres and a mule,” a promise made to freed slaves, and had Samuel L. Jackson show up dressed as “Uncle Sam.”
It might have just been a security precaution
One fan made an interesting point, saying: “Not just Trump. All US Presidents leave major events like this early. Imagine the security nightmare for Secret Service if he stayed until the end and left at the same time as everyone else. Doing the crowd a favor by leaving early due to road closures for motorcade to pass.”
Trump’s Super Bowl exit made headlines
It’s just another one of those moments that’s keeping everyone buzzing. Whether it was the game or Kendrick Lamar, it definitely gave people something to gossip about!
