What? How is this surprising at all? It’s Disney!
They are the kings of putting Easter Eggs from their other movies into different properties.
If you had two different billion-dollar show ponies, wouldn’t you want them to get together a little bit?
Place your bets! Place your bets!
Where did the Thor easter egg show up in The Mandalorian ?
What was it? I will be taking bets in the back alley behind the Diply office from now until the next part of this article.
Time’s up!
No more bets!
This Easter egg came to us in… Episode 8! It’s at the time when Moff Gideon reveals that the Mandalorian, Din Djarin, doesn’t actually come from Mandalore.
And then, Greef Karga (Carl Weathers) asks: “wait, aren’t you a Mandalorian?”
And Din reveals he is actually a foundling, and that “Mandalorian isn’t a race. It’s a creed”.
This is where the Thor reference comes in. Remember the line from Ragnarok that Odin tells Thor about Asgard?
“Asgard is not a place. Never was… Asgard is where our people stand”
Yeah… kind of similar, aren’t they?
The connection becomes stronger when you realize that not only did Taika Waititi direct Thor: Ragnarok , but he also directed Chapter 8 of The Mandalorian .
Did he throw it in at the last minute? Maybe.
