I’m not going to lie to you guys, Ross isn’t my favorite character from Friends . But I like to give credit where credit is due.
He was the star of the show in many ways – the glue. And without him, we would have all missed out on some of the funniest Friends moments.
I have been involved in several debates about who the best character from “Friends” is.
And I think that while my personal favorite is Chandler, the majority of fans seem to have the most love for Ross Geller — a very respectable choice.
Let’s look at the facts. The most memorable moments from the show that spring to mind are the ones that were centered around Ross.
He always managed to get himself into the most ridiculous situations.
Like the time he got too sweaty for his leather pants.
To be fair, anyone who has ever worn leather pants knows just how sweaty it can get. So, I genuinely understood his struggle.
To make things funnier, he calls Joey — (the last person anyone should take advice from), and ends up creating a baby powder and lotion paste all over his legs.
This would only happen to Ross.
Or the time he over-whitened his teeth.
The only thing funnier than Ross’s teeth in this episode, was him trying to make them look less noticeable by applying makeup.
I admire his determination.
His epic spray-tan fail.
For someone with a PhD, he sure struggled to figure out a fairly simple, two-step tanning process.
If he had just counted mississippilessly , he could have avoided looking like half of his body just came back from the sun. But that’s why we love him!
The time he couldn’t get his new couch into his apartment.
The word “pivot” has been forever changed for me. Now, every time I say it, I have to shout it.
It’s only right.
The time he taught Rachel and Phoebe about the state of total awareness.
Then he asked a self-defense instructor to teach him how to attack his friends, then he attacked two random women outside of Central Perk, mistaking them for Rachel and Phoebe.
What a mess. A hilarious, glorious mess.
The time he dressed up like an armadillo to teach his son about Hanukkah.
Props to him for trying to educate his son about his religion.
More props to him for doing it dressed up like an armadillo.
Speaking of dressing up, his Halloween costume definitely makes this list.
I love how Ross is never afraid to be himself.
Even when it makes him look like a piece of p**p wearing a pasta strainer.
His “sound”.
I have nothing but respect for his passion. He isn’t even appreciated in his own time.
“I would give anything to not be appreciated in my own time!”
The time he said, “I’m fine”, when he was really, really not.
“L is for life. And what is life without love? O is for ‘oh, wow!’ V is for this very surprising turn of events, which I’m still fine with by the way. E is for how extremely normal I find it.”
Yes, I had that speech memorized… Don’t judge me.
“The routine”. Need I say more?
This was so pure.
If you are an adult man and you have a dance routine with your sister, you deserve the world.
The way he tells people to keep it down.
It’s not enough to simply ask people to be quiet.
The hand gestures are what really drove his point home.
Last but certainly not least, the most iconic Ross moment of all time…
“WE WERE ON A BREAK!”
While I’m definitely on #TeamRachel when it comes to this whole debacle, Ross insisting that they were “on a break” for the entire series was a necessity to the show .
So, there you have it, people. Case and point. Ross rules.
