In this unprecedented time of the coronavirus outbreak, many celebs have offered financial donations to those most in need.
Information about the coronavirus pandemic is rapidly changing and Diply is committed to providing the most recent data as it becomes available. Some of the information in this story may have changed since publication, and we encourage readers to use online resources from CDC and WHO to stay up to date on the latest information surrounding COVID-19.
Take Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds for example.
The pair donated $1 million to food banks in both Canada and the USA.
Some celebrities have offered a different kind of outreach to fans, however, the gesture doesn’t seem to be going over very well.
Gal Gadot posted a video of herself and other celebs (including Kristen Wiig, Mia Rudolph, Jamie Dornan, Natalie Portman, Zoe Kravitz, Sia, Lynda Carter, Amy Adams, Mark Ruffalo, Ashley Benson and more) singing “Imagine” by John Lennon.
The gesture, though well intentioned, seemed kind of tone-deaf during these critical times.
And people can’t stop roasting it on Twitter.
“Imagine— IMAGINE—having $17 million dollars and thinking that making a video clip of you singing one line of a song would help anyone,” wrote Sophie Benoit Twitter.
There was also a lot of critiques about how off-key the rendition was.
“Next time celebs want to uplift me can they pick a key,” wrote on Twitter user.
People are urging celebs to donate money, not sing an anti-war song in their California mansions.
