Look, I’m a big believer in the idea that celebrities have it easy, because a lot of the time, they do. To not have to worry about employment or where your next paycheque is coming from is a massive blessing that I don’t take lightly. However, there’s no denying this fame comes with a double-edged sword.
No one in the real world has thousands of people commenting on their bodies daily — I can’t imagine what that’s like!
Social media is the epitome of a blessing and a curse.
It’s a blessing because we’re able to connect with loved ones across the world and keep track of our kids, but its a curse because of the ability to remain anonymous on platforms like Instagram and Twitter.
This anonymity means millions of people can say whatever they want all over the internet, and oftentimes, they use that privacy for evil.
Take for example, what happened to Ty Pennington recently. The Extreme Makeover: Home Edition host was criticized online after posting a funny video of himself on the beach.
People thought it was appropriate to leave comments about how they felt he had gotten “fat” and “old” since his “Extreme Makeover” days.
NEWSFLASH EVERYONE: PEOPLE AGE!
In fact, it’s a massive blessing that we get to age!
Think about it, aging is a privilege — what’s the alternative?
Exactly.
Trust me, you will always feel better when you don’t say the mean things and keep any comments about aging or weight gain yourself . We’re all only human, after all!
