We all love a relaxing night at the movies — it’s one of those simple things a lot of us took for granted before the pandemic. Going out with your friends, or partner, eating lots of buttery popcorn, and drinking so much diet soda you need to leave the movie three times is all part of the fun.
Do you know what else should be part of the fun? Cleaning up after yourself!

Sadly, it seems a lot of people don’t think about their manners much these days.
Growing up, I was always told to clean up after myself no matter where I was — at a restaurant, at a friend’s house, at the movies — it doesn’t matter!
Just because there’s other people there who can do it doesn’t mean they have to.
A great example of this attitude was captured in a now viral TikTok video of a cleared out movie theatre.
While we’re all excited to go see movies in person again (especially the new Spiderman film) there is no excuse to leave your manners at home!
“ngl how to ppl feel comfortable leaving cinemas in such a mess i could never,” wrote one TikTok user.
“do people order popcorn just to throw it everywhere???” asked a different user.
“how can people be comfortable w leaving messes like that?” echoed someone else.
My favorite comment? “this is exactly why everybody should be required to work a service job at some point. insane.”
I mean, at least everyone is equally as horrified as I am.
Please remember to clean up after yourselves, friends. It’s only right, and it will make everyone’s cinema experience that much more enjoyable!
