All relationships have their ups and downs. Some of us have pet peeves about things our partner does for example. Some of us are married to 300-year-old ghost pirates. Everyone’s got their issues.
46-year-old Amanda Teague from Downpatrick, Northern Ireland made headlines in 2016 when she announced that she would be marrying a 300-year-old ghost pirate named Jack posthumously.
She married him on international waters, as that was the only place in which the marriage was legal.
Teague cited her young son’s passing a few years earlier as her reason for getting so involved in interacting with the dead.
A few months after the wedding, Teague noticed that her health was declining.
“This went on for almost two years,” she explained to the hosts of This Morning with Eamonn & Ruth, “My health just kept getting worse and worse and worse, to the point where I ended up with sepsis last year in June.”
“I almost died. I had to have an emergency surgery.”
She went on to explain that her husband was essentially ‘stealing’ energy from her, calling Jack an “Energy Vampire.”
“When we die it’s normal to stay in the earth-bound realm for a period.”
“However, when spirits stay around too long, they need an energy source,” she continued, “And unfortunately Jack was using me as an energy source.”
I think that we can all attest to having someone in our lives who took more than they gave.
These are the kinds of folks who leave us financially and emotionally drained, and honestly, we’re better off without them.
Maybe they aren’t all pirate ghosts, but still.
“He had never accepted his own death, so he wanted to continue living through my body.”
In December of last year, Teague ‘divorced’ her husband via exorcism.
“I do believe that everything happens to us for a reason,” she added, explaining that since her divorce, she no loner practices mediumship.
Luckily, she mentioned that her life has really turned around since leaving Jack.
Teague explained in her interview that she was proud of what she’s been able to accomplish since her divorce, and though we aren’t all divorcing ghost pirates, we can all relate to being proud of ourselves after getting out of a draining situation.
Best of luck Amanda!
