If there’s one thing that the pandemic has given us it’s a newfound appreciation for teachers. These dedicated individuals work incredibly hard and are deserving of our respect .

Snacking fails are just part of the territory.
The look of sadness and defeat is easy to see even through that giant face shield. I’m not exactly sure what has affixed itself to the front of the mask or how Ms. Faye was even able to do so — but I wish her all the best.

When “Hangman” stops being innocent.
I was never very good when it came to musical theory, but I’m almost positive that we never learned about “ass clefs” in school. I guess I must have been out sick that day.
Everything comes crashing down.
I don’t believe in bad luck or signs, but if I went to hang my diploma on the wall of my classroom and the frame shattered into a million pieces — I’d have pause. That can’t be a good omen of things to come.
The left foot and right foot aren’t talking.
In all fairness, this supposedly took place during a fire drill. Which admittedly makes all the more embarrassing, especially since the whole school would’ve seen it — but it’s somewhat understandable given the circumstance.
There are some things you just can’t come back from.
The one silver lining is that if they’re 13, hopefully, most if not all will be on their way to high school next year. But until that time, you can bet that this teacher is going to be reminded of her little slip up each and every day.
One letter can make all the difference in the world.
You absolutely cannot give adolescent/tween children such long-hanging fruit. They’ll be asking one another “Is your penil sharp?” for the rest of the school year and beyond. The jokes literally write themselves.
Did you order “Original Recipe” or “Extra Crispy”?
Do you remember back when you were in Kindergarten and the teacher had the entire class make a clay handprint? That’s what these are — they’re just burnt beyond all recognition.
You know it’s been a long year when…
Like most people, I’ve had to contend with early mornings after some incredibly late nights. But I can honestly say that I’ve never been so exhausted that I attempted to open a locked office door with my car keys.

When the elixir of life betrays you at the worst possible moment.
This might seem like an impossible situation but there is a way to get out of it. All you do is bump up every student one full letter grade for the assignment. That way, everyone’s happy and nobody’s the wiser.
When you spill hot candle wax all over your lesson plan.
This has to be one of the worst things that could happen during a Zoom session. My only question is how freaking big was the candle you were burning?! That seems like a crazy amount of wax.
Isn’t it ironic, don’t you think?

When I was a kid, I couldn’t force-feed my dog homework if I tried (and I did).
It’s not what it looks like.
Of course, this would happen first thing in the morning, right before you’re about to start your first class. The timing couldn’t be better or more predictable. Hopefully, there’s a hand-dryer nearby — I wouldn’t relish having to explain how I didn’t wet myself to the whole class.
When the “word of the week” reveals your true feelings.
According to Jennifer White (who goes by the Instagram @firstandkinderblueskies) this was left on her board all week and it never once dawned on her that she was inadvertently cursing out her own classroom.
