I have to tell you something. I’ve always been for wage equality and treating everyone with fairness. It’s especially hard for people who work in minimum wage jobs. Imagine feeding a family on that kind of salary? I can’t.
So companies need to recognize that and do what they can to improve things. That’s why I’m thrilled to let you know that there is at least one retailer that wants to take better care of its employees.
And that company is Target!
Yes, that’s right. The red bullseye retailer has now vowed to pay some of its employees $24 per hour. Why? Well, there’s strategy involved here. You see, Target wants to attract more people to work there.
So naturally, they needed an incentive.

That’s why for some positions Target will raise the minimum wage to $24. This isn’t the first time Target raised its minimum wage. In 2020 they increased it to $15/hour.
That wage will remain.
However, some workers will indeed qualify for the higher starting pay. This will be based on the nature of their job and the competitive wages in their local market. That makes sense, right? I think so, too.
And there’s more good news for Target employees.
As of April 2022, employees who work a minimum of 25 hours a week will be eligible to enroll in a health plan. Up to this point, only employees who worked 30 hours a week were able to do that. So it’s another step in the right direction, no?
But that’s not all.

Target also shortened the time an employee has to be on the job to receive benefits. It used to be nine months, and now the requirement is only three months. Wow! Isn’t that amazing or what? I’m so thrilled to hear that.
This is so great for Target.

I wish all companies would make important changes like these to help their employees. I think it’s a great incentive indeed. Feeling valued at work will make people work harder and smarter too.
And get this:

There are other benefits Target employees will now receive. The company is offering virtual physical therapy at no cost.
It’s so important, especially since mental and physical health issues have gone up since the pandemic started. It’s basically taken a toll on almost everyone. I don’t think I’m alone in thinking this, huh?
But there’s more. Check this out.

Target’s medical plans will now include enhanced fertility benefits and other new wellness offerings. I’m so impressed by that. I know many people struggle with issues like these and it will be of huge help. Target team members will also get faster access to 401(k) plans.
Oh my goodness. How amazing is this?

Don’t you think this is such great news for Target employees? Not only that, but it sets a great example for other big companies. It’s time they all take the health and wellness of their employees more seriously. What do you think? Do you agree with me? Isn’t this a step in a good direction?
