Summer is almost here, y’all. I can taste it.
You know what else I can taste? Delicious drinks made from fruit kegs. DIY geniuses have taken to social media to show off their DIY kegs, and guys? They are literally fruit kegs.

So, here’s the fruit keg experience.
It’s exactly what you pictured, right? That doesn’t make it any less cool — or any less delicious.
This one is the classic watermelon keg, but people have made kegs out of other fruits, too!
Meet the pineapple keg.
She’s spiky, she’s spunky, she’s fruity, she’s a little bit tropical. Okay, a lot tropical. Say hello to the pineapple keg, aka the keg I totally want to make. It just screams summer, you know?
That’s not the only keg in town, though…
Did you know a pumpkin is technically a fruit? It may not be the summer vibe you’re going for, but I had to include it because of the carving on the front. “More boos please” is so effing cute.
So, ANYWAY.
Fruit kegs need to be part of your summer. If we’re all still locked inside, we’re going to need new things to do with our booze, right? Fruit keg. Get into it.
Here’s how to make it.
Alright, so. Grab your fruit of choice. Make sure it’s pretty large and has a thicker rind. If you use an orange, I will judge you. I will also want pictures.
Cut the top off.
Depending on your fruit, this may be a challenge. A watermelon is going to be no problem. A pineapple? Well…wear gloves. Thick ones.
Anyway, slice the top off and set it aside. You’ll need it later.
Hollow out the fruit.
Now, it’s time to go to town. Use any utensil at your disposal to dig out the innards of your chosen fruit. Keep it to make drinks with, or for garnish!
Pour your alcohol of choice in.
The general choice tends to be Prosecco, but don’t let that limit you. If you can dream it, you can stick it in a fruit keg. Just make sure it’s pretty pourable.
Mix, mix, mix.
Mix that ish in! It’ll pick up the watermelon (or fruit) flavor and thin out enough to drain out of the spout when you’re ready to pour your drinks. Yum.
Party on.
Hello fruit keg, how are you? Stick your spout in that bad boy and have a good time.
HELPFUL TIP: if you’re not putting your watermelon on any kind of stand, cut the bottom off just enough for it to balance. Do not go any deeper and risk ruining your keg.
So, we’re all doing this for the summer, right?
