He was merely trying to help, but the lads took it out on him. Klotz claimed that the older man he was defending was unharmed and in good condition.

A representative for the NYPD told the NY Post on Sunday that juvenile reports had been made, and their parents were contacted to pick them up.
Had Visible Wounds
The weatherman explained that his wounds would heal even though his face was visibly bruised and sore, and his eyelids were red and purple.
“I got X-rays. I’m OK. This is all going to heal. So, it’s all good,” he said.
He Described Them As Children
“My side is so much worse than my face, and the thing is, the other guy is not really a guy. It’s children. Five or six children.'”
Is Klotz Aware They Were Freed?
Although the NYPD appears to have caught three adolescents, the other teens escaped. Although Klotz claimed on camera that some of the adolescents were “grabbed,” it is unclear whether he was aware they were freed.
Why Were The Teens Not Charged?
However, an NYPD spokesman said on Sunday that the department could not do so due to the suspects’ ages and the fact that the offense appeared to be a misdemeanor.

Before getting involved, the Department of Probation must receive a complaint from the victim, according to a representative for the city Law Department, which prosecutes minor crimes in the Big Apple.
The spokesman explained that probation would decide whether to refer the case to the Law Department for prosecution.
